Position Summary

DePuy Synthes is recruiting for a HEMA Lead for Spain & Portugal located in Madrid, Spain. The HEMA Lead leads Health Economics & Market Access (HEMA) strategy and execution for DePuy Synthes Spain and Portugal, ensuring optimal reimbursement, access and adoption of innovative orthopaedic solutions. The role is accountable for shaping value‑based access strategies, engaging key external stakeholders and enabling sustainable business performance aligned with country and EMEA priorities.

Key Responsibilities

- Define and execute HEMA strategy for Spain and Portugal aligned with DePuy Synthes and EMEA priorities.
- Develop and deliver market access and funding strategies to enable adoption and sustainable growth.
- Build and maintain strategic relationships with payers, HTA bodies, institutional decision‑makers and relevant authorities to shape the external environment and advance value‑based adoption.
- Lead EMEA‑aligned evidence generation and value creation activities and translate insights into local value messages, tools and materials.
- Partner cross‑functionally with Marketing, Sales, Medical/Clinical and Regulatory teams to develop and execute market access and reimbursement strategies across the product lifecycle.
- Navigate centralized and regional access dynamics across Spain and Portugal, including hospital‑ and region‑based decision pathways, support access optimization within regional healthcare systems, institutions and tender environments.
- Ensure effective deployment of health economic tools, value assets and training to enable internal stakeholders and strengthen field activation.
- Monitor execution against HEMA priorities and business objectives, ensuring alignment to agreed plans,



milestones and governance expectations.
- Ensure compliance with applicable quality, ethics and local regulatory requirements, consistent with EMEA HEMA standards.
- May take on direct responsibility for a priority and strategic business at EMEA regional level, ensuring HEMA strategy and execution align with business priorities and performance objectives.

Scope & Impact

Full strategic responsibility for HEMA outcomes in Spain and Portugal, with high autonomy and direct impact on access success, innovation adoption and revenue sustainability. This role may also hold direct responsibility for a priority and strategic business at EMEA regional level, ensuring alignment of HEMA strategy and execution with business priorities, performance objectives and value delivery expectations.

Qualifications

- Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD preferred) in Health Economics, Public Health, Life Sciences or related field.
- 7+ years of experience in Market Access or HEMA roles, preferably within MedTech or Pharmaceuticals.
- Proven experience within the Spanish and/or Portuguese reimbursement environment.
- Fluent in English and in the local language(s).

Compensation & Benefits

The anticipated base pay range for this position is: €67,300.00 – €115,805.00. In addition to base pay, benefits include an annual bonus with target performance based on the previous calendar year, sales commissions, vacation days, a minimum of 12 weeks of parental leave, bereavement leave, caregiver leave, volunteer leave, well‑being reimbursement, financial, physical and mental health programs, service anniversary and recognition awards, and eligibility for various insurance plans in some locations.
