The role supports third‑party (3P) commercial activities and regional supply chain operations by ensuring reliable and cost‑effective maritime transport aligned with business requirements. The position reports to the Integral Head of Shipping and has direct impact on regional freight cost, service reliability, and operational performance. /p h3Main Responsibilities /h3 ul liLead and develop a regional team (2–3 direct reports). /li liLead regional freight contracting (spot and period charters). /li liManage voyage execution, operational performance, and cost control. /li liOversee laytime calculations, demurrage claims, and dispute resolution. /li liProvide regional freight market intelligence to support commercial and operational decisions. /li liSupport 3P commercial activities through transport structuring and execution. /li liWork closely with regional Supply Chain and key stakeholders, including Traders, Supply Chain VCs, and Procurement VCs. /li liParticipate in the Global Shipping budgeting process; prepare and manage the regional freight budget. /li liEnsure compliance with global shipping policies and governance standards.
/li liDrive cost optimization and operational discipline within the region. /li liTravel to operations, key ports, and industry forums as required. /li liApprove regional freight fixtures within delegated authority limits. /li liNegotiate charter party terms in line with established commercial parameters. /li liEscalate strategic contracting decisions to the Global Head of Shipping as required. /li /ul h3Academic Background /h3 ul liBachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics, Maritime Studies, Engineering, Economics or related field required. /li liMaster’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain or related discipline preferred. /li /ul h3Languages /h3 ul liSpanish and English advanced professional proficiency required. /li liAdditional languages considered an advantage. /li /ul h3Experience /h3 p5 years of experience in: /p ul liDrybulk maritime transportation, freight contracting, voyage management, laytime and demurrage handling. /li liAmple knowledge of the drybulk market, its fundamentals and players. /li liDirect international negotiation experience with shipowners and brokers. /li liExperience managing freight budgets and operating in volatile freight environments required. /li liStrong knowledge of charter party terms and maritime contracts. /li liUnderstanding of freight market dynamics and rate structures. /li liProficiency in budgeting and cost control. /li liAdvanced Excel and ability to analyze operational and financial data. /li liExperience with shipping systems or ERP platforms preferred. /li liStrong negotiation capability. /li liClear and structured communication. /li liAbility to operate under pressure and make sound decisions. /li liLeadership capability and team. /li /ul h3Cemex Diversity and Inclusion Commitment /h3 pCemex is committed to providing an ethical, diverse, and inclusive workplace.
