Overview
Amentum is seeking a highly skilled Combat Systems SPY Technician to join our team in Rota, Spain, supporting the Forward Deployed Regional Maintenance Center (FDRMC). This role offers a unique opportunity to directly support the readiness of forward-deployed U.S. Navy forces by maintaining and restoring critical radar and combat systems.

Responsibilities
- Provide Fleet Technical Assistance (FTA) to diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve casualties involving AN/SPY-1 radar and associated combat systems.
- Perform on-site (OS) and distant support (DS) for U.S. Navy ships and shore-based OCONUS activities.
- Conduct maintenance, installation, testing, and repair of radar systems, including Ballistic Missile Defense (BMD) and auxiliary equipment.
- Execute advanced fault isolation within radar subsystems, including Signal Processor (SIGPRO) components.
- Analyze radar performance and provide recommendations on clutter mitigation and environmental impacts.
- Support System/Equipment Assessments (e.g., TSRA, INSURV, ICMP, BMDRAs, Combat Systems Assessments).
- Assist with logistics support, including validation of Allowance Parts Lists (APLs) and identification of required components.
- Provide on-the-job training (OJT) and technical guidance to ship’s force personnel.
- Document findings using Navy systems (e.g., MFOM/NMD, FTS) and prepare formal reports/debriefs in accordance with JFMM standards.
- Recommend updates to technical documentation, including Maintenance Requirement Cards (MRCs), manuals, and procedures.
- Support Engineering Technical Branch (ETB) efforts, including system analysis and corrective action development.
- Travel as required to support forward-deployed naval forces.
Minimum Requirements
- Minimum of three (3)
years of journeyman-level experience within the last five (5) years in radar/combat systems.
- Demonstrated experience in maintenance, installation, testing, and repair of U.S. Navy radar systems, including BMD-related equipment.
- Strong knowledge of electromagnetic energy, radar theory, quantum theory, and electronic phasing as applied to AN/SPY-1 systems.
- Ability to understand and apply mono-pulse radar principles, including interpretation of sum and delta signals for fault isolation.
- Experience troubleshooting radar signal processing (SIGPRO) components.
- Ability to work independently without supervision in a journeyman-level capacity.
- Familiarity with Navy maintenance and tracking systems such as MFOM/NMD and FTS.
- Ability to interpret and apply technical manuals, drawings, and engineering documentation.
- Willingness and ability to travel frequently, including OCONUS and shipboard environments.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret security clearance.
- Strong communication skills, including experience preparing technical reports and briefs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting AEGIS Weapon Systems, particularly AN/SPY-1 (all baselines).
- Experience with Ballistic Missile Defense (BMD) systems and configurations.
- Background supporting DDG-51, CG-47, or similar AEGIS platforms.
- Experience participating in TSRA, INSURV, BMDRAs, or Combat Systems Assessments.
- Familiarity with NAVSEA Standard Items and Joint Fleet Maintenance Manual (JFMM) processes.
- Prior experience providing Fleet Technical Assistance (FTA) or working at a Regional Maintenance Center (RMC).
- Experience developing or improving technical documentation and training materials.

Compensation
90,000 - 115,000
