Responsibilities
-
- Perform structural and civil calculations such as foundation calculations, piling, earthworks, retaining walls, compressor foundations, dynamic calculations, steel structures, blast‑resistant buildings, etc.
- Interpret geotechnical reports.
- Prepare contract requisitions for civil and structural work on assigned projects.
- Prepare job specifications for civil and structural work on assigned projects.
- Check, comment on and approve steel shop drawings.
- Check, comment on and approve precast concrete shop drawings.Co‑ordinate with the civil/structural team and with other teams of different disciplines.
- Ensure that all civil/structural engineering works on assigned projects are carried out in accordance with the requirements of the project specifications.
- Identify circumstances likely to result in contract changes and prepare man‑hour estimates to support contract changes.
- Advise the Leader Civil Engineer and Engineering Manager of any slippage and their causes and proposed corrective action including any technical problems and unresolved differences with other groups.
- Liaise with specialist consultants appointed to support the Civil Engineering,
Design Group and construction personnel and address site queries during construction.
- Carry out periodic inspection of civil and structural work during construction to ensure correct interpretation of designs and issue completion certificates for structural work carried out on assigned projects.
- Keep abreast of developments in the civil and structural engineering field.
- Perform such duties as may reasonably be assigned by the Leader Civil Engineer and Engineering Manager.
Qualifications

- BSc (Civil Engineering) or BEng (Civil).
- Ten years relevant experience in oil and gas projects (design and calculation).
- Excellent command of Spanish and English languages.
- Knowledge of Spanish and international standards and codes (EHE, CTE, EAE, EuroCodes, AISC, ACI, etc.).
- Advanced user of StaadPro, Staad Foundation, Sap2000, IDEA Statica and MS Office.
- Holding a valid permit to live and work in Spain is required.
