ppThe Network Solutions Architect is responsible for the design, governance, and evolution of network solutions that support organisational objectives across enterprise, cloud, and hybrid environments. The role combines strategic architecture leadership with operational and people management responsibilities, ensuring network services are secure, resilient, scalable, and aligned to business needs. /ppIn addition to architecture and leadership responsibilities, the postholder is expected to maintain a hands‑on technical involvement in the delivery of architected solutions. This includes providing technical leadership throughout implementation, supporting complex deployments, validating designs, troubleshooting critical issues, and working alongside engineering teams to ensure solutions are delivered in accordance with architectural standards and business requirements. /ppThe role requires a balance of strategic thinking and practical execution, with accountability for translating architectural vision into successful operational outcomes while leading and developing a high‑performing network solutions team. /ppThe successful candidate will lead architecture and design activities while managing a team of network professionals, overseeing performance, development, resource planning, and operational excellence. /ppYou will need to support and deliver to cross functional teams within the General business which means you will need to adapt to ways of working being flexible to their needs. /ppThe role has the potential to include overnight and weekend working to support project delivery and act as a point of escalation for the operational support teams. International travel will be required when necessitated by project delivery. /ph3Job requirements /h3h3Key Responsibilities /h3pDesign end‑to‑end network solutions for business and technology initiatives. /ppDefining processes and systems design. /ppProduce high‑level and detailed network architecture designs. /ppDefine network standards, patterns, and roadmaps. /ppEnsure solutions align with architecture, security, and operational requirements. /ppLead network design reviews and technical governance activities. /ppProvide architectural guidance for cloud, hybrid‑cloud, and on‑premises environments. /ppSupport major transformation programmes and infrastructure modernisation projects. /ppDevelop and maintain network technology roadmaps. /ppEvaluate emerging technologies and industry trends. /ppRecommend improvements to network performance, security, resilience, and automation.



/ppDrive adoption of software‑defined and cloud‑based networking solutions. /ph3Network Security Compliance /h3pEnsure security principles are embedded into all network solutions. /ppCollaborate with cybersecurity teams to implement secure architectures. /ppSupport compliance with regulatory, audit, and governance requirements. /ppDesign solutions supporting Zero Trust and defence‑in‑depth strategies. /ph3Project Delivery Leadership /h3pLead technical design activities for complex projects. /ppAct as the senior technical authority for network‑related initiatives. /ppSupport project managers with planning, estimation, and risk management. /ppReview and approve technical deliverables from internal teams and third‑party suppliers. /ppLead, mentor, and develop a team of network solutions engineers and specialists. /ppSet individual objectives and performance expectations. /ppConduct regular one‑to‑one meetings and performance reviews. /ppCreate development plans and support professional certification goals. /ppFoster a collaborative, high‑performing team culture /ph3Resource Workforce Planning /h3pManage team workload, priorities, and resource allocation. /ppIdentify skills gaps and develop succession plans. /ppSupport recruitment, onboarding, and retention activities. /ppManage contractor and supplier resources where required. /ph3Operational Management /h3pEnsure network services meet agreed service levels and operational targets. /ppOversee incident, problem, and change management activities. /ppMonitor team performance against agreed metrics and OKR’s /ph3Technical Skills Experience /h3h3Networking /h3pSD‑WAN solutions (Cisco/Palo Alto) /ppRouting and switching on a global scale (BGP, OSPF, MPLS, VXLAN) /ppLoad balancing technologies (F5, open‑source options) /ppDNS, DHCP, IPAM /ppIPv4 and IPv6 /ppNetworking within Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, and/or Google Cloud /ppHybrid and multi‑cloud connectivity /ppExpressRoute, Direct Connect, VPN, and cloud transit architectures /ph3Security /h3pFirewalls and network security controls (Palo Alto) /ppZero Trust architecture /ppNetwork Access Control (NAC) /ppSecure remote access solutions /ppNetwork monitoring and threat detection /ppSecure access service edge (SASE)



/ppCIS Controls /ph3Automation Observability /h3pLogicMonitor /ppAnsible /ppTerraform /ppInfrastructure as Code (IaC) /ph3Recovery and High Availability /h3pHigh Availability (HA) network design. /ppDisaster Recovery (DR) planning and implementation. /ppActive‑active and active‑passive network architectures. /ppMulti‑site and geographically resilient network deployments. /ppCloud resilience and multi‑region networking. /ppLoad balancing and traffic management technologies. /ppSD‑WAN resilience and failover capabilities. /ppData centre redundancy and resilience design. /ppNetwork failover and recovery testing. /ppCritical infrastructure and 24x7 service environments. /ph3Experience in the following desired, but not essential: /h3pUse of Atlassian suite and Halo ITSM /ppAbility to clearly explain technical issues to a non‑technical audience. /ppExperience working within an MSP /ppKnowledge of regulatory frameworks such as GDPR, ISO 27001, NIST, PCI‑DSS, or Cyber Essentials Plus. /ppExperience working within large‑scale enterprise environments supporting 1,000+ users across multiple locations /ppExperience supporting highly available 24x7 operational environments. /ph3Person specification: /h3h3Formal Education, Certification/Qualifications /h3pAWS Certified Advanced Networking – Specialty /ph3Personal Attributes /h3pAbility to cope in a technically complex and fast‑changing environment, and to respond calmly and rationally to changing aspirations in a deadline‑driven situation. /ppStrong planning and organisation skills including the ability to manage several work streams simultaneously. /ppStrong tenacity, sense of urgency and problem‑solving skills. /ppAble to quantify and articulate business options, risks, issues and benefits, clearly and succinctly, supporting effective decision‑making and resolution. /ppDemonstrate professionalism to support a culture of integrity within the team. /ppCredible and persuasive at all levels within the organisation and externally /ppAbility to innovate and to challenge entrenched thinking coupled with sensitivity to the current culture of teams /ppAble to work at pace whilst maintaining very high standard in a busy Infrastructure delivery team /ppAbility to communicate clearly internally and externally.
