ph3Job Highlight /h3 pThe position of ICT Specialist – Technology Solutions Engineer (IICA-2) role supports the TDDPS/ TDU and focuses on delivering innovative technology solutions to enhance the safety, efficiency, and effectiveness of UN peace operations. /p h3Role Purpose /h3 pThe role supports the operational needs of field missions and UN headquarters by: /p ul liDesigning and delivering training and capacity building /li liAdvising on and implementing cutting‑edge technologies /li liSupporting procurement and documentation processes /li liDriving innovation and fostering a culture of continuous improvement /li /ul h3Functions / Key Results Expected /h3 pUnder the overall supervision of the Senior UNOPS Programme Manager, the incumbent for this post will be placed in UNGSC/TDDPS/TDU. /p pThe ICT Specialist - Technology Solutions Engineer will be responsible for the following duties: /p pbSummary of Key Functions /b /p ul liTechnology Solutions (particularly in Counter UAS, Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance, Force Protection, Symmetric and Asymmetric Threat mitigation and sensors) /li liService Design and Early Life Support /li liTraining design and Delivery /li liDocumentation and Knowledge Management /li liInnovation and Change Management /li liTechnology Solutions /li liManages relationships with technical experts and field missions’ programmes with respect to programme and project deliverables while managing risk; /li liBuilds high quality product design documentation as well as guidelines and SOPs for the implementation of new technologies in the field missions; /li liIdentifies and advises on Technologies Solutions (particularly in Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance, Force Protection, Symmetric and Asymmetric Threat mitigation technologies, Command Control systems, Situational Awareness and Sensors) that could enhance better mandate implementation; /li liContributes to the development of innovation frameworks, best practices and technology roadmaps; /li liContributes to liaising with the industry and adhering to the UN procurement rules with the technology sector, vendors, industry,



research development entities and other partners with a view to assessing and applying modern technologies in UN field missions; /li liActively follow technology developments and identify technology trends and solutions with respect to military requirements for peace operations to contribute to the workplan to ensure that most updated technologies are used as per mandate and activities requirements; /li liTravels to field and other operational locations, as necessary, to support the effective delivery of work. /li liService Design and Early Life Support /li liDevelops and implements products as a service strategy; /li liTraining Design and Delivery /li liDesigns and develops comprehensive training materials and user manuals for field mission personnel on the deployment, operation, and maintenance of specialized technology solutions; /li liDelivers technical training programs, workshops, and Train-the-Trainer (ToT) initiatives—both virtually and through field deployments—to ensure operational readiness and maximize technology adoption in peace operations; /li liEvaluates training effectiveness and tracks capability gaps, continuously updating training frameworks to incorporate technological advancements, updated SOPs, and field lessons learned /li liDocumentation and Knowledge Management /li liPrepares procurement documentation and provides technical input; /li liAdvises UNGSC, field missions and other UN entities on technical aspects of technologies from an engineering and operational viewpoint, as required; /li liInnovation and Change Management /li liContributes to creating and nurture a culture conducive to innovation and develops innovation roles, talents, and career paths; /li liIdentifies disruptive threats and opportunities based on trends and shape; /li liApplies strategy,

The ICT Specialist - Technology Solutions Engineer initiates and promotes technology solutions and innovations, integrating military, police and civilian technologies and expertise, in support of making UN peace operations more safe, more effective and efficient; and creates synergies that emphasize enhanced operational performance, impact and capacities through the introduction of modern technology to UN peacekeeping and field missions.
