ppDescription /ppJob Summary: Performs a variety of imaging procedures and is responsible for patient safety protocols. Functions as the first line interface with customers in the successful accomplishment of their imaging needs. Participates in CQI activities. /ppDemonstrates Competency in the Following Areas: /ppResponsible for the care and safety of patients undergoing treatment and use of equipment to minimize hazards of electric shock, burns and extraneous radiation to patients. /ppResponsible for safe handling of equipment and films. /ppInstructs and prepares patients for Radiographic and/or fluoroscopic examinations. /ppSelects appropriate equipment to use for procedure. /ppDetermines most suitable anatomical posture and positions and shields patients accordingly. /ppAble to assess patient pain interfering with imaging procedure; makes appropriate physician contact for intervention. /ppPerforms all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors. /ppSupports and maintains a culture of safety and quality. /ppMaintains department stock and orders supplies as needed. /ppMakes special radiographic examinations requiring special equipment and procedures such as: intravenous pyelograms, intravenous cholangiograms, hysterosalpingograms, cholangiography, arthrograms, myelograms and hip pinnings in surgery. /ppPrograms portable or stationary x-ray machines and makes radiographs for a variety of examinations. /ppPositions and shields patients accordingly. /ppFollows the principle of ALARA. /ppKeeps procedure room clean and neat, makes minor equipment adjustments as needed. /ppAble to use CR or DR equipment to processes x-rays. /ppPractices medical and surgical aseptic procedures. /ppAssists in maintaining basic records and reports. /ppAssists in maintaining files. /ppAssists in training of students and ancillary staff.



/ppInteracts professionally with patient/family. /ppHas knowledge of facility policies and the functions of other departments. /ppCompletes all work before clocking out and leaving. This includes checking with nurses’ stations. /ppProvides care appropriate to condition and age of the patient, including pediatric, geriatric and general population. /ppPerforms other duties as requested. /ppRequirements /ppProfessional Requirements: /ppMeets dress code standards; appearance is neat and clean. /ppCompletes annual educational requirements. /ppMaintains regulatory requirements. /ppMaintains patient confidentiality at all times. /ppReports to work on time and as scheduled; completes work within designated time. /ppConsistently completes and maintains assigned duties. /ppWears identification while on duty; uses computerized punch time system correctly. /ppAttends annual review and department inservices, as scheduled. /ppAttends 12 staff meetings, or reads and returns all staff meeting minutes. /ppMaintains hospital requirements, policies and standards on confidentiality. /ppKnowledgeable of local fire and safety regulations. /ppRepresents the organization in a positive and professional manner. /ppActively participates in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities. /ppComplies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices. /ppCommunicates the mission, ethics and goals of the hospital, as well as the focus statement of the department. /ppRegulatory Requirements:



/pp• High School graduate; BS degree preferred. /pp• Currently Attending an Accredited Radiology School (Letter from School) or /pp• Graduation from an AMA approved school of Radiologic Technology: either college affiliated or hospital trained. /pp• Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. /pp• Certified by the State of Arkansas to practice and administer radiation. /pp• Current BLS Certification. /ppLanguage Skills: /pp• Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. /pp• Additional languages a plus. /ppSkills: /pp• Basic computer knowledge. /ppPhysical Demands: /pp• Exposure to radiological hazard-occupational levels. Normal hospital environment. Close visual/acuity. Hearing within normal range. Oral communication. Operates x-ray machines (stationary and portable), injectors, computer, telephone, stretchers, wheelchairs, IV poles and patient monitoring devices. Lifting up to 50 pounds. Carrying up to 25 pounds.
