We are seeking a Principal Python Engineer with deep expertise in Apache project contribution, data processing, automation, and big data ecosystem integration. The technology stack includes popular open source Apache projects with Python integration – Spark, Kafka, and related ecosystem tools. The role goes beyond development: the adecuado candidate will set technical direction, drive architectural decisions, and represent BairesDev in the Apache community.

What You'll Do:

- Drive technical vision and strategy for Python‑based integration with Apache ecosystem projects (Spark, Kafka).

- Contribute actively as a core contributor to Apache open source projects with Python components.

- Define and oversee the design of highly scalable, resilient data processing systems built in Python.

- Establish best practices and performance standards for AI/ML and big data applications across teams.

- Mentor and empower Staff and Senior Engineers, fostering technical growth and knowledge sharing.

- Influence cross‑functional engineering decisions,



aligning technical initiatives with business objectives.

- Lead innovation initiatives and guide the evolution of open source frameworks within the Apache ecosystem.

What we are looking for:

- 10+ years of experience in software development with strong Python expertise.

- Proven track record as a leading contributor to Apache open source projects, with recognized impact in the community.

- Exceptional expertise in open source development methodologies, governance, and community leadership.

- Extensive knowledge of distributed systems architecture, scalability, and advanced performance optimization.

- Demonstrated ability to set technical strategy, influence cross‑team decisions, and deliver high‑impact results.

- Experience mentoring and leading senior technical talent.

- Advanced level of English.
