Position Overview
Senior Platform Engineer – Onsite Technologies (Madrid). Your role will focus on the design, evolution, and continuous improvement of Roche’s workplace technology platforms, providing technical leadership across enterprise workplace services with a particular focus on printing, Microsoft technologies, automation, platform engineering, and service integrations. You will work closely with architects, engineering teams, service delivery managers, and managed service providers to ensure Roche’s workplace platforms remain scalable, reliable, secure, and operationally efficient, contributing to the strategic evolution of workplace platforms while supporting global engineering initiatives and driving modernization efforts across the Onsite Technology Services portfolio.

Responsibilities
- Design, maintain, and continuously improve workplace technology platforms.
- Drive technical roadmaps and platform modernization initiatives aligned with business and technology objectives.
- Ensure platforms are scalable, reliable, secure, and supportable.
- Contribute to technical standards, engineering practices, and operational governance frameworks.
- Support architecture reviews and technology evaluations.
- Act as a technical subject‑matter expert for enterprise printing solutions and related workplace technologies for creating great Office experiences.
- Drive continuous improvements across printing services, print management platforms, and associated integrations.
- Support implementation of new workplace technologies and service capabilities.
- Collaborate with vendors and service providers to improve platform performance and service quality.
- Identify opportunities for innovation and simplification across workplace services.
- Drive adoption of Microsoft technologies and automation capabilities across workplace services.
- Design and implement automation solutions that improve operational efficiency and service quality.
- Support integration of workplace services with Microsoft platforms and collaboration technologies.
- Contribute to Infrastructure as Code, workflow automation, and self‑service initiatives.
- Promote automation‑first engineering practices.
- Support operational engineering teams in improving platform reliability and service maturity.
- Analyze incidents, recurring issues, and operational trends to identify improvement opportunities.
- Drive root‑cause analysis and technical problem resolution activities.
- Contribute to observability, monitoring, telemetry, and operational health initiatives.
- Support service continuity and operational readiness activities.
- Work closely with Service Delivery Managers, Platform Engineering teams, Architects, and Managed Service Providers.
- Support global workplace technology initiatives and transformation programs.
- Provide technical guidance to operational teams and service stakeholders.
- Communicate technical risks, dependencies, and improvement opportunities.
- Contribute to engineering roadmaps and strategic planning activities.
- Own assigned workplace technology platforms.
- Provide subject‑matter expertise across printing, Microsoft technologies, and automation domains.
- Influence platform strategy, standards, and engineering direction.
- Collaborate across integral teams, vendors, and managed service providers.
- Mentor and coach engineers and operational teams.
Qualifications
- IT Engineering degree with ITIL Foundation and/or Microsoft/MCSE certifications (Microsoft 365, Azure, Power Platform, Endpoint Management).
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Platform Engineering, Workplace Technologies, Infrastructure Engineering, or related technical roles.
- Experience with Power Platform, PowerShell, Azure Automation, or similar technologies.
- Experience supporting enterprise‑scale technology platforms and working with global organizations and distributed teams.
- Experience driving technical improvements and automation initiatives.
- Deep understanding of operational support models, service lifecycle management, and enterprise platform architectures.
- Experience designing and implementing automation solutions, automation frameworks, Infrastructure as Code, and modern engineering practices.
- Experience with ServiceNow or enterprise ITSM platforms, Terraform or Ansible, and working within large‑scale global service organizations.
- Advanced communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to influence technical decisions without direct authority.
- Advanced analytical and problem‑solving capabilities; balance strategic thinking with operational execution.

The Madrid-based Platform Engineering team focuses on enterprise printing platforms, Microsoft ecosystem technologies, automation & service orchestration, platform engineering, workplace service integrations, observability & operational insights, service modernization initiatives, technical governance & standards, continuous service improvement, and collaboration with Service Delivery, Architecture, and Operations teams.
