ph3Job Title /h3 pMaster Student for Automated Performance Profiling for HPC Earth Science Applications (R0) /p h3Start Date /h3 pASAP /p h3Closing Date /h3 pFriday, 31 July 2026 /p h3About the Role /h3 pPart‑time position for a final‑year master’s student to complete their TFM through contributing a project at the High Performance Computing for Earth Sciences (HPC4ES) team of the Computational Earth Sciences (CES) group within the Earth Sciences department at BSC. /p pThe project aims to develop a novel, automated profiling pipeline for CI/CD integration within the Automatic Performance Profiling tool, combining existing BSC tools with new developments to generate a trace using Extrae, process it to extract performance metrics via Folding, and develop Python scripts for automation and analysis. /p pPrimary responsibilities include developing methods for automatically cutting traces, building and integrating the profiling pipeline, and reporting performance metrics. /p h3Key Duties /h3 ul liDevelop Python scripts to automate trace processing and performance analysis workflows. /li liDesign and implement a method to automatically cut Extrae traces to selected iterations. /li liIntegrate BSC profiling tools, including Extrae and Folding, into the Automatic Performance Profiling pipeline. /li liExtract, validate and report detailed performance metrics suitable for future CI/CD integration. /li /ul h3Requirements /h3 pbEducation /b /p ul liStudent in Computer Science or related discipline.
