ph3Job Summary /h3 pProvides direct and indirect patient care. Communicates with physicians, Nurse Manager, and co‑workers, as appropriate, about changes in a patient’s clinical condition including results of diagnostic studies and symptomatology. Is able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment. Additionally, is able to perform general nursing duties in all departments with adequate supervision. /p h3Competencies /h3 ul liAbility to perform a head‑to‑toe assessment on all patients and reassessments as per policy. This includes pediatric, geriatric, and the general patient population. /li liAbility to adequately assess and reassess pain, utilize appropriate pain management techniques, and educate the patient and family regarding pain management. /li liAbility to revise the plan of care as indicated by the patient’s response to treatment and evaluate overall plan daily for effectiveness. /li liAbility to perform waived testing (point‑of‑care testing) per Clinical Laboratory’s and the resident care unit’s policies and procedures. /li liAbility to interpret results of waived tests; take appropriate action on waived test results. /li liPatient care responsibilities considered with the needs specific to the standard of care for patient’s age. /li liKnowledge of medications and their correct administration based on age of the patient and their clinical condition. /li liFollows the seven medication rights and reduces potential medication errors. /li liFormulates a teaching plan based upon identified learning needs and evaluates effectiveness of learning; family is included in teaching as appropriate. /li liAssists physicians with procedures and performs services requiring technical and manual skills. /li liPerforms treatments and provides services to level of licensure. /li liTreats patients and their families with respect and dignity, identifying and addressing psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and religious/spiritual needs. /li liFunctions as liaison between administration, patients, physicians, and other healthcare providers.



/li liInteracts professionally with patient/family and involves patient/family in the formation of the plan of care. /li liDemonstrates knowledge of growth and development over the lifespan and the skills necessary to provide age‑appropriate care to the patient population served. /li liInterprets data about a patient’s status to identify each patient’s age‑specific needs and provide necessary care. /li liPerforms all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces medical/healthcare errors. /li liSupports and maintains a culture of safety and quality. /li liConsults other departments as appropriate to provide an interdisciplinary approach to patient needs. /li liCommunicates appropriately and clearly to Nurse Manager, co‑workers, and physicians. /li liMaintains a good working relationship both within the department and with other departments. /li liIdentifies and addresses psychosocial needs of patients and families; communicates with Social Service/Discharge Planner regarding hospital and post‑discharge needs. /li liDocumentation meets current standards and policies. /li liManages and operates equipment safely and correctly. /li liCoordinates and supervises patient care as necessary. /li liDemonstrates flexibility, organization, and ability to function under stressful situations. /li /ul h3Requirements /h3 h3Professional Requirements /h3 ul liAdheres to dress code; appearance is neat and clean. /li liCompletes annual education requirements. /li liMaintains regulatory requirements, including all federal, state, local regulations and accrediting organization standards. /li liMaintains and ensures patient confidentiality at all times. /li liReports to work on time and as scheduled; completes work within designated time. /li liWears identification while on duty; uses computerized punch time system correctly.



/li liCompletes in‑services and returns them in a timely fashion. /li liAttends annual review and department in‑services as scheduled. /li liAttends 12 staff meetings annually or reads and returns monthly staff meeting minutes. /li liRepresents the organization in a positive and professional manner. /li liActively participates in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement activities. /li liComplies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices. /li liCommunicates the mission, ethics, and goals of the hospital, as well as the focus statement of the department. /li /ul h3Regulatory Requirements /h3 ul liGraduate of an accredited school of nursing. /li liCurrent state Registered Nurse Licensure within state of practice. /li liCurrent BLS certification. /li /ul h3Language Skills /h3 ul liAble to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. /li liAdditional languages preferred. /li /ul h3Skills /h3 ul liBasic computer knowledge. /li /ul h3Physical Demands /h3 ul liMobility, sight, hearing, verbal communication, changes in temperature, exposure to disagreeable elements, exposure to biological, mechanical, electrical, and chemical hazards. /li liFrequent standing and walking. Lift up to 100 pounds. Carry up to 40 pounds. Push/pull up to 450 pounds. /li liThis position is a safety‑sensitive position pursuant to Amendment 98 to the Arkansas Constitution § 2(25).
