ppbWe are a community open to everyone. One global team where everyone counts. /bbr/Join the Canyon team and work at the cutting edge of the bike industry, with a job as versatile and exciting as the bikes we develop. All in an open, international atmosphere where teamwork, collaboration, true innovation, and a dynamic workplace are all part of our everyday. Ready to ride with us? /p h3The Role /h3 pCanyon is building the backend systems that power our digital ecosystem — mobile apps, web platforms, and external integrations that connect riders and bikes worldwide. We're looking for a Backend Engineer who thinks in systems: someone who designs clean service boundaries, models data intentionally, and builds APIs that evolve safely over time. You will work cross‑functionally and take ownership from architecture through production operations. /p h3Your Job as Part of the Canyon Crew /h3 pbIn your first months, you will /b: /p ul liDesign and implement APIs with clear boundaries between domain services and aggregation layers (e.g., BFF patterns) /li liCollaborate on API contracts using a contract‑first mindset, ensuring versioning and backward compatibility /li liModel relational data schemas thoughtfully, evolve them via migrations, and optimize queries where needed /li liBuild integrations with internal services and external providers using resilient patterns /li /ul pbAs you grow into the role, you will /b: /p ul liImprove service architecture and boundary clarity across the system /li liDesign for distributed systems realities: idempotency, retries, timeouts, failure handling, and eventual consistency /li liStrengthen testing strategy with meaningful unit and integration tests that validate behavior, not implementation details /li liContribute architectural decision records (ADRs)

and align contracts across teams /li liImprove observability and operational readiness through structured logging, metrics, and tracing /li /ul h3Technical Environment /h3 ul liTypeScript and Node.js /li liRESTful API design and implementation (contract‑first, versioning, backward compatibility) /li liCloud‑native deployment models /li liEvent‑driven systems /li liAuthentication and authorization (e.g., OAuth 2.0) /li /ul h3Testing /h3 ul liUnit testing (e.g., Jest or Vitest) /li liIntegration and contract testing /li /ul h3Tooling /h3 ul liCI/CD pipelines /li liVersion control (e.g., Git) /li liObservability tooling (e.g., Azure Monitor, Application Insights, or similar) /li /ul h3How You Become Part of the Race /h3 ul li3+ years of professional experience building production backend systems /li liStrong API design fundamentals, including versioning and backward compatibility /li liSolid SQL and data modelling skills (schema design, indexing, transactional consistency) and sound judgment about when non‑relational storage fits /li liUnderstanding of distributed systems basics: consistency trade‑offs, retries, idempotency, failure modes /li liExperience designing event‑driven and request/response integrations /li liA pragmatic testing philosophy: clear unit tests, meaningful integration tests, minimal over‑mocking /li liExperience working in a cloud environment and understanding of deployment, configuration, and infrastructure concepts /li liAn operational mindset:

you design for observability and can debug production systems /li liAbility to document trade‑offs clearly and collaborate across teams /li liBachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent professional experience /li /ul h3Nice to Have /h3 ul liExperience with Backend‑for‑Frontend or GraphQL patterns /li liFamiliarity with Infrastructure as Code workflows /li liPerformance optimization and cost‑awareness in cloud environments /li liComfort working with AI‑assisted development tools (e.g., Codex, Claude, or similar agentic coding environments) /li liInterest in connected products or the cycling domain /li /ul pWe value engineers who care about clean architecture, thoughtful trade‑offs, and production‑quality systems not just feature delivery. /p h3Highlights on Your Canyon Tour /h3 ul liThe Canyon Crew Culture: Combine energy and transparency in a global team. We promote a strong feedback culture, unique Canyon events, and inspiring crew rides. Your voice matters in creating an inclusive workplace where well‑being is a priority. /li liFeel Canyon (Product Perks): Unlock your passion for cycling! Enjoy exclusive discounts on bikes, gear, and apparel as part of our commitment to fueling your journey. /li liCompensation Rewards: Experience a rewarding career with a competitive market‑based salary and generous paid time off. Your satisfaction is our priority. /li liLife‑Work Integration: Join us for a career that prioritizes balance through adaptable and hybrid work options in a family‑friendly environment. /li liImpact Development: Shape the future of mobility. We offer diverse career paths across operational, strategic, creative, or technical roles, where innovation and sustainability consistently challenge and inspire you. /li /ul /p #J-18808-Ljbffr
