Grow your career with Andalusia, where we value your contributions to the community we serve. /p h3Job Summary /h3 pThe Manager – Medical/Surgical is responsible for the day-to-day clinical and operational management of a Medical/Surgical nursing unit. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care through effective staff leadership, clinical oversight, regulatory compliance, and continuous performance improvement. The Nurse Manager partners with physicians, interdisciplinary teams, and hospital leadership to support safe staffing, positive patient outcomes, and a culture of accountability and professional development. /p h3Essential Functions /h3 ul liProvides leadership and oversight of daily nursing operations for the Medical/Surgical unit. /li liEnsures safe, effective, and evidence-based patient care in accordance with professional nursing standards, hospital policies, and regulatory requirements. /li liManages staffing, scheduling, and resource allocation to meet patient care needs and productivity targets. /li liRecruits, orients, coaches, evaluates, and develops nursing staff; addresses performance issues in accordance with policy. /li liMonitors quality indicators (e.g., patient safety events, patient satisfaction, core measures) and implements improvement initiatives as needed. /li liPromotes a culture of patient safety, accountability, teamwork, and continuous learning. /li liEnsures compliance with accreditation standards, state and federal regulations, and organizational policies. /li liCollaborates with physicians, case management, ancillary departments, and leadership to optimize patient flow and care coordination. /li liParticipates in departmental meetings,



hospital committees, and performance improvement activities. /li liAssists with budget management, including staffing controls, supply utilization, and expense monitoring. /li /ul h3Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Expectations /h3 ul liStrong clinical knowledge of acute care Medical/Surgical nursing practice /li liDemonstrated leadership, coaching, and team-building skills /li liKnowledge of healthcare regulations, accreditation standards, and quality improvement principles /li liEffective communication, conflict resolution, and decision-making abilities /li liAbility to analyze data and apply findings to improve patient care and unit performance /li liProficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) and standard office software /li liFrequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching in a clinical environment /li liAbility to assist with patient handling and movement as needed /li liOccasional lifting of supplies or equipment (up to 50 lbs) /li liVisual and auditory acuity required for patient care and communication /li liAcute care hospital Medical/Surgical unit /li liRegular exposure to patient care environments, including bloodborne pathogens and infectious diseases /li liRequires adherence to safety protocols and use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) /li /ul h3Qualifications /h3 h3Education /h3 ul liGraduate of an accredited school of nursing (Required) /li liBachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) (Preferred) /li liMaster’s degree in Nursing or Healthcare Administration (Preferred) /li /ul h3Licenses/Certifications /h3 ul liCurrent Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice (Required) /li liBasic Life Support (BLS) certification (Required) /li liAdvanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) (Required or within timeframe specified by facility policy) /li /ul h3Experience /h3 ul liMinimum of 3 years of recent clinical nursing experience in an acute care setting (Required) /li liPrior charge nurse, supervisory, or nursing leadership experience (Preferred) /li liMedical/Surgical nursing experience (Strongly Preferred) /li /ul /p #J-18808-Ljbffr
