ppDescription /p h3Job Summary /h3 pPerforms a variety of imaging procedures and is responsible for patient safety protocols. Functions as the first line interface with customers in the successful accomplishment of their imaging needs. Participates in CQI activities. /p h3Responsibilities /h3 pDemonstrates Competency in the Following Areas: /p pResponsible for the care and safety of patients undergoing treatment and use of equipment to minimize hazards of electric shock, burns and extraneous radiation to patients. /p pResponsible for safe handling of equipment and films. /p pInstructs and prepares patients for Radiographic and/or fluoroscopic examinations. /p pSelects appropriate equipment to use for procedure. /p pDetermines most suitable anatomical posture and positions and shields patients accordingly. /p pAble to assess patient pain interfering with imaging procedure; makes appropriate physician contact for intervention. /p pPerforms all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors. /p pSupports and maintains a culture of safety and quality. /p pMaintains department stock and orders supplies as needed. /p pMakes special radiographic examinations requiring special equipment and procedures such as: intravenous pyelograms, intravenous cholangiograms, hysterosalpingograms, cholangiography, arthrograms, myelograms and hip pinnings in surgery. /p pPrograms portable or stationary x‑ray machines and makes radiographs for a variety of examinations. /p pPositions and shields patients accordingly. /p pFollows the principle of ALARA. /p pKeeps procedure room clean and neat, makes minor equipment adjustments as needed. /p pAble to use CR or DR equipment to process x-rays. /p pPractices medical and surgical aseptic procedures. /p pAssists in maintaining basic records and reports. /p pAssists in maintaining files. /p pAssists in training of students and ancillary staff.



/p pInteracts professionally with patient/family. /p pHas knowledge of facility policies and the functions of other departments. /p pCompletes all work before clocking out and leaving. This includes checking with nurses’ stations. /p pProvides care appropriate to condition and age of the patient, including pediatric, geriatric and general population. /p pPerforms other duties as requested. /p h3Professional Requirements /h3 pMeets dress code standards; appearance is neat and clean. /p pCompletes annual educational requirements. /p pMaintains regulatory requirements. /p pMaintains patient confidentiality at all times. /p pReports to work on time and as scheduled; completes work within designated time. /p pConsistently completes and maintains assigned duties. /p pWears identification while on duty; uses computerized punch time system correctly. /p pAttends annual review and department inservices, as scheduled. /p pAttends 12 staff meetings, or reads and returns all staff meeting minutes. /p pMaintains hospital requirements, policies and standards on confidentiality. /p pKnowledgeable of local fire and safety regulations. /p pRepresents the organization in a positive and professional manner. /p pActively participates in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities. /p pComplies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices. /p pCommunicates the mission, ethics and goals of the hospital, as well as the focus statement of the department. /p h3Regulatory Requirements /h3 ul liHigh School graduate; BS degree preferred.



/li liCurrently Attending an Accredited Radiology School (Letter from School) or /li liGraduation from an AMA approved school of Radiologic Technology: either college affiliated or hospital trained. /li liRegistered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. /li liCertified by the State of Arkansas to practice and administer radiation. /li liCurrent BLS Certification. /li /ul h3Language Skills /h3 ul liAble to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. /li liAdditional languages a plus. /li /ul h3Skills /h3 ul liBasic computer knowledge. /li /ul h3Physical Demands /h3 pExposure to radiological hazard-occupational levels. Normal hospital environment. Close visual/acuity. Hearing within normal range. Oral communication. Operates x‑ray machines (stationary and portable), injectors, computer, telephone, stretchers, wheelchairs, IV poles and patient monitoring devices. Lifting up to 50 pounds. Carrying up to 25 pounds. Pushing/pulling up to 400 pounds.
