ppWe are looking for a Backend Engineer II to join our Technology Team and help build the future of education. /p pYou will be joining a general EdTech company, building a suite of AI-enabled products for students, teachers and education partners to support better learning outcomes at scale. /p pThis is a high-ownership role for a strong mid-level backend engineer. You will build the services, integrations, data flows and cloud foundations that make the product secure, reliable and scalable. You will be expected to investigate ambiguous problems, make practical technical decisions and take responsibility for systems in production. /p h3bWhat you will do /b /h3 ul liBuild and maintain backend services, APIs, webhooks and integration services. /li liDevelop secure, scalable foundations for multi-tenant education products. /li liBuild and improve integrations with learning platforms, third-party services, AI providers and internal systems. /li liDesign reliable data flows for assessment, feedback, learner activity, reporting and operational workflows. /li liBuild and maintain authentication, authorisation, permissions and audit capabilities appropriate for education products. /li liWork with PostgreSQL, BigQuery and modern cloud application infrastructure. /li liBuild and deploy containerised services in cloud environments. /li liImprove reliability, observability, performance and maintainability across backend systems. /li liInvestigate production issues, identify root causes and implement durable fixes. /li liWork closely with Product and AI Engineers to turn product needs into scalable technical systems. /li liEngage with education partners where useful to understand real workflows and improve integrations.



/li liUse AI-assisted development tools appropriately while maintaining strong standards for testing, security and code quality. /li liWrite clean, tested and maintainable code. /li /ul h3bWhat we are looking for /b /h3 ul li3+ years of professional backend engineering experience in production environments. /li liExperience owning backend services, APIs, integrations, webhooks or cloud-based systems beyond narrowly scoped feature delivery. /li liStrong experience with TypeScript/Node.js, Python or similar modern backend technologies. /li liExperience with frameworks such as NestJS, FastAPI, Express or similar. /li liSolid understanding of APIs, authentication, validation, permissions, databases and backend architecture. /li liExperience with PostgreSQL and modern cloud platforms. /li liExperience integrating third-party APIs, SaaS platforms or AI services. /li liExperience with Docker or similar containerisation tools. /liliA self-directed mindset and the ability to investigate unclear technical problems, make sound decisions and move work towards practical solutions. /li liStrong ownership, debugging and problem-solving skills. /li liClear written and spoken English. /li /ul h3bNice to have /b /h3 ul liExperience with learning-platform integrations, LTI standards or education technology. /li liExperience with event-driven systems, data pipelines, workflow automation or integration-heavy products. /li liExperience building multi-tenant SaaS products. /li liExperience with CI/CD, monitoring, logging, privacy, security or auditability. /li liExperience with Google Cloud or comparable cloud platforms. /li liA degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Engineering or a related technical discipline. /li /ul h3bLocation /b /h3 pFully remote, Europe. /p /p #J-18808-Ljbffr
