ppLocation: Madrid or Seville, ES; Genoa, IT /p pJob Reference: 15150 /p h3Overview of the Role /h3 pBattery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) Engineer – responsible for leading the design, development, implementation and operation of BESS in renewable energy projects, primarily wind and solar power. Acts as the Owner’s Engineer, ensuring seamless integration of BESS into project execution and providing technical expertise to clients, stakeholders and senior management. /p h3Key Responsibilities /h3 ul liProvide comprehensive engineering support throughout the lifecycle of BESS projects, ensuring adherence to technical specifications, contract management and stakeholder coordination. /li liConduct thorough feasibility studies, including technical and economic viability assessments, site evaluations and identification of potential risks and mitigation measures. /li liOffer expert guidance on energy storage systems, renewable energy integration and project development strategies to clients, energy majors, utilities and governments. /li liStay updated on the latest advancements in BESS technologies, industry trends and regulatory requirements; share technical knowledge within the organization. /li liAssess project specifications, energy storage needs and grid requirements to propose optimal BESS configurations. /li liAssess the technical capabilities and reliability of potential BESS suppliers, ensuring adherence to project specifications and quality standards. /li liCollaborate with procurement teams to define technical specifications, evaluate bids and select suitable equipment and technologies. /li liEvaluate electrical system design, protection schemes and interconnection requirements for BESS integration, including grid stabilisation and backup power. /li liPerform simulations and modelling to predict system performance and optimise design.



/li liDefine KPIs and implement data acquisition systems to monitor BESS performance, including energy storage efficiency, response times and system availability. /li liAnalyse performance data to identify trends, assess health of the BESS system and recommend maintenance or operational improvements. /li liDevelop project schedules, budgets and resource plans for successful BESS implementation. /li liCollaborate with project teams to manage risks, resolve technical issues and ensure compliance with project milestones. /li liPerform on‑site inspections to ensure quality and integrity of BESS components, installations and interconnections. /li liDevelop and implement quality control plans, inspection checklists and acceptance criteria for BESS systems. /li liCollaborate with commissioning teams to define test protocols and procedures, ensuring thorough verification of system performance and functionality during commissioning and testing. /li /ul h3Candidate Specification /h3 ul liBachelor’s degree in engineering – preferably electrical/electronic engineering, renewable energy or energy storage systems. A master’s degree or relevant certifications would be advantageous. /li liPrior experience in technical due diligence, owner’s engineering, advisory services, and feasibility studies for renewable energy projects and/or energy storage systems. /li liStrong knowledge of BESS technologies, grid integration and power system modelling. /li liProject management skills,
