ph3Job Description /h3 pSP Head of Secondary School and Sixth Form Role Profile Purpose of Role In common with all members of the Senior Management Team, the Head of Secondary and Sixth Form is responsible for reviewing and revising school policies, and takes a whole school perspective and contributes to the strategic vision and planning of the School’s development. /p h3ISP Principles /h3 pBegin with our children and students. We positively engage with personal and professional development and school improvement. /p h3ISP Head of Secondary School and Sixth Form Key Responsibilities /h3 pTeaching, Learning and Achievement /p ul liBe responsible for all MLT members in Secondary and oversee their work in maintaining high standards of teaching, learning and achievement. /li liCommission and monitor baseline testing and the analysis of examination results. /li liOversee target setting and the tracking of pupils’ performance. /li liLiaise with the Head of Admissions on suitability of applicants for School places. /li liOversee all entrance testing and alongside the Heads of Departments. /li liCommission annual reports from academic departments and compile an annual report on academic achievement to go to the Whole School Senior Leadership Team. Administration /li liWrite the curriculum plan and commission the academic timetable each year. /li liOperations manage subject choices and the allocation of pupils to classes in all year groups. /li liManage and chair, MLT meetings and attend other meetings and conferences, both in and out of the School, as appropriate. /li liWork towards inspections and to help lead the school’s response to inspections. /li liBe aware of the requirements for good and outstanding and consistently work towards these standards in relation to the academic policies,
procedures and expectations throughout secondary school and sixth form. Staff /li liBe responsible for the academic induction of new staff and for the development of the teaching abilities of all staff. /li liTo coordinate the programme of regular professional review of all teaching staff. /li liBe responsible for IPGCE and NQT trainees. Communication /li liManage the reporting of academic progress to parents. /li liOrganise the programme of parents’ meetings. /li liCommunicate with parents both individually and in general on academic matters, explaining school policies and decisions. /li liCompile and publish information as required on the curriculum and on subject choices and content. Finances and Facilities /li liTake overall responsibility for the annual budgets of the academic departments, working closely with the heads of department and the Bursar. /li liMonitor and advise on the provision and maintenance of suitable teaching facilities, working closely with the heads of department. Strategic /li liDraw up, maintain and implement an academic curriculum development plan. /li liKeep abreast of national changes in curriculum policy and thinking and consider how best to respond to changes. /li liWork closely with other senior colleagues on the general development of the school. /li liWork, with the Schools Senior Leadership Team, in maintaining the School as a leader both locally, nationally and internationally in educational performance, innovation and thinking. /li /ul h3ISP Leadership Competencies /h3 pYou consistently demonstrate and role-model the ISP Leadership Competencies in all that you do. 1.
