Backend Ownership Strategy /b /p ul liDefine and drive the backend vision across teams (architecture, design systems, tooling, standards). /li liEnsure consistency in how backend applications are built and maintained. /li liOwn cross-team backend topics. /li liMake and enforce key technical decisions when alignment is needed. /li /ul pb2. Team Leadership Capability Building /b /p ul liLead and support backend engineers, ensuring efficient and impactful delivery of initiatives while driving team engagement, efficiency, and growth. /li liRaise the bar of backend engineering through running regular 1:1s and performance check-ins, coaching, and clear development support. /li liIdentify skill gaps and drive training,



and mentoring initiatives to close skill gaps, improve team capability, and continuously strengthen ways of working. /li liOwn and drive key people processes for the team (in alignment with Tech Leadership), including hiring, onboarding, offboarding, performance reviews, and compensation cycles, ensuring consistency and quality of execution. /li liBuild a strong backend community (guilds, knowledge sharing, standards). /li liOwn awareness of department KPIs/goals and drive recommendations for continuous improvement in team performance and execution. /li /ul pb3. Delivery Quality Accountability /b /p ul liEnsure backend delivery is predictable, scalable, and high quality across teams. /li liIdentify and resolve systemic delivery or quality issues. /li liSupport teams to avoid risky complex backend initiatives. /li /ul pb4. Cross-Functional Leadership /b /p ul liAlign backend work with frontend/data/platform constraints and opportunities. /li liAct as the main escalation point for backend-related decisions. /li /ul pb5. Hands-on Technical Leadership /b /p ul liStay close to the codebase through selective PR reviews and architectural guidance. /li liContribute to critical or high-risk backend areas when needed. /li liGuide teams on best practices (testing, performance, accessibility, maintainability). /li /ul h3Main requirements /h3 ul liStrong experience with Java stack (SpringBoot, Liquidbase, etc.). /li liProven experience leading backend initiatives across multiple teams. /li liExperience defining architecture and driving adoption at scale.



/li liExperience mentoring senior engineers and influencing technical direction. /li liSolid understanding of Java and Postgres performance, database modeling and risk analysis. /li liExperience working with cross-functional stakeholders. /li /ul h3Salary /h3 pAt Qualifyze, our salary ranges are transparent internally, and we aim to follow a similar approach externally. For this role, we’re happy to share a reference point within the band: the expected salary range is around b85.000€ - 90.000€ /b.
