The Reina Sofía School of Music is opening a call for applications for the position of accompaniment pianist professor for the Telefónica Violin Department. The work of the department’s accompaniment pianist is coordinated and combined with the teaching work of the main violin professor and their adjunct professor, and focuses not only on musical assistance to the tenured professor’s classes, but also on teaching instrumental repertoire with piano accompaniment, in any of the official courses (degree in higher artistic music education, master’s degree in musical performance) or non-official courses (diploma in performance, preliminary courses to the degree or master’s degree).

Job Requirements

The Telefónica Violin Chair comprises 14 students for the academic year. The responsibilities of the collaborative pianist professor primarily include:

- Approximately 440 hours per academic year.

- Provide one hour of individual joint work per week with each student of the Chair, for each academic year between September 2026 and June 2027.

- Be fully available during the main professor’s visiting periods for the academic year between September and June.

- Be fully available during the visiting periods of international artists for masterclasses (1 or 2 days per visit, dates to be determined each academic year).

- Accompany the Chair’s students in teaching concerts (two quarterly concerts)



at the School’s SONY Auditorium.

- Accompany the Chair’s students in their final degree recitals or master’s final concerts, if any, from May to June 2027.

- Availability to attend concerts and activities outside of teaching hours, both within and outside the School’s premises.

- Accompany candidates in the Chair’s annual auditions (in-person), usually on a date to be determined in March.

- Foster each student’s self-critical sense and initiative in individual and personalized study, based on a detailed analysis of the score.

- Provide assistance and guidance to students in the appropriate stylistic and sonic conception of each work.

- Provide musical support at the piano for the main professor’s artistic and technical guidance.

- Participate in the Chair’s faculty meetings (one quarterly meeting).

- Submit constructive written assessments and evaluations of students’ educational progress (quarterly).

- Submit grades in accordance with the requirements of the teaching guides and proposals of the relevant study program (annually).

- Be qualified to sign official grading records (annually).

Main Functions

- Qualification:



Higher Degree / Bachelor’s Degree in Performance from Spain or recognized in Spain.

- Languages: Intermediate level of spoken and written English and Spanish.

- Experience: Experience as a collaborative pianist and prior knowledge of the specific violin repertoire will be valued: Concertos, Sonatas, virtuoso repertoire, and chamber music.

Professional Collaboration

- Contract type: Services will be provided on a self-employed basis.

- Remuneration: From 40.00 euros per hour, depending on the profile and experience provided.

- Location: Albéniz Foundation headquarters, Calle Requena 1, 28013 Madrid.

- Interviews and auditions: to be determined, in the second half of September 2026.

- Start date: immediate after interview and audition.
