The Infinity Research Group at the Institute for Culture and Society (ICS) of the University of Navarra has a strong track record in psychotherapy research and is currently leading two Templeton-funded projects in the field of the psychology of religion and spirituality: one explores divine forgiveness perceptions and its connection to well-being in Catholic contexts as part of a global network studying forgiveness across cultures and religions;
the other investigates transformative experiences of awe in cathedrals. Additionally, the group aims to develop another project on integrating therapy and spirituality in LATAM contexts focusing on building an international network of educators in psychology and psychotherapy to strengthen their teaching practices, enhance collaboration, and promote the adoption of evidence-based approaches.
With an international network of researchers,



the group is particularly focused on studying the relationship between spirituality, flourishing, and well-being, with an emphasis on psychotherapy. The team includes clinical psychotherapists, psychologists and philosophers, all committed to exploring these topics from an intercultural perspective, particularly in Latin American contexts. Additionally, the group is interested in the connections between Catholicism and other religions, such as Protestantism.
This multidisciplinary approach brings together experts from psychology, theology, philosophy, and related disciplines to better understand the role of spirituality in therapeutic settings and its influence on well-being. By combining research with practical applications, the group aims to develop innovative tools to support therapists and enhance the integral impact of psychotherapy.
The candidate is expected to lead an own project at the intersection of religiosity/spirituality with psychotherapeutic practice in an intercultural context.The project could be either theoretical or empirical, evaluating whether these intersections are evidence-based, assessing the cultural adaptation of therapies to diverse contexts—particularly the adaptation of therapies from the Anglo-Saxon sphere to Spanish-speaking contexts in Latin America and Spain and examining their applicability to different religious traditions, such as Protestant and Catholic communities. Additionally,



applied studies could be conducted to assess the effectiveness of these therapies. The candidate will collaborate in developing a project in this field that also aligns with their research interests.

Candidates:
Should have a PhD degree at the time of the deadline for applications. Applicants who have successfully defended their doctoral thesis but who have not yet formally been awarded the doctoral degree will also be considered eligible to apply.
Must have a maximum of eight years experience in research, from the date of the award of their PhD degree, years of experience outside research and career breaks will not count towards the above maximum, nor will years of experience in research in third countries, for nationals or long-term residents of EU Member States or Horizon Europe Associated Countries who wish to reintegrate to Europe.
