We're partnering with a leading enterprise organisation investing heavily in AI and looking for an experienced Senior Backend Engineer to build the backend services that power production AI applications.

This is a hands-on engineering role where you'll design, build and operate scalable Python services, working closely with AI Engineers, Data Scientists and Platform teams to deliver secure, reliable and high-performing systems.

The Role

You'll take ownership of backend services from design through to production, helping shape architecture and engineering standards while solving real-world challenges around scalability, reliability and AI integration.

Key Responsibilities

- Design and develop scalable backend services and REST APIs using Python.
- Integrate AI, machine learning and Large Language Model (LLM) capabilities into production applications.
- Build secure, resilient and observable cloud-native services.
- Design data models, APIs and system integrations.
- Improve testing, CI/CD pipelines, monitoring and operational excellence.
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams, architects and product stakeholders.
- Mentor engineers and contribute to technical decision-making and best practice.

What We're Looking For





- Strong commercial experience developing backend applications with Python.
- Experience designing APIs and distributed backend systems.
- Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS preferred).
- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
- Strong understanding of databases, data modelling and system integration.
- Good knowledge of CI/CD, testing and observability.
- Ability to make sound architectural decisions and communicate technical trade-offs.
