Our client is a technology-driven engineering company developing highly engineered products for demanding industrial and aerospace-related applications. Operating in a multidisciplinary environment, the organization combines advanced mechanical engineering, electronics, software, and precision manufacturing technologies to deliver innovative solutions to international customers. Working across the complete product lifecycle, the company develops complex engineering systems where mechanical engineering plays a central role in product performance, reliability, manufacturability, and long-term lifecycle success. Engineers take full ownership of developments from customer requirements and concept definition through detailed design, verification, validation, industrialization, and production, collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams in a fast-paced and innovation-driven environment. Mission The Principal Mechanical Engineer will provide technical leadership while remaining actively involved in the end-to-end development of highly engineered products. The role combines hands‑on mechanical design with ownership of the complete mechanical development lifecycle, ensuring engineering solutions meet demanding performance, reliability, manufacturability, quality, and delivery objectives. Acting as the primary technical interface with customers, the Principal Mechanical Engineer will translate customer requirements into robust engineering solutions, lead technical discussions, coordinate multidisciplinary engineering activities, and mentor the mechanical engineering team while maintaining direct involvement in product development. The role is instrumental in delivering innovative systems from concept through industrialization while fostering engineering excellence and continuous improvement. Responsibilities End-to-End Product Development Own the complete mechanical development lifecycle of complex engineering systems, from customer requirements and concept generation through design, verification, validation, industrialization, production release, and lifecycle support. Lead the mechanical architecture and detailed design of high-performance mechanical systems and precision-engineered assemblies. Remain actively involved in hands‑on engineering activities, including CAD design, design reviews, prototyping, engineering calculations, testing,
and technical problem‑solving. Define engineering solutions that balance performance, reliability, manufacturability, weight, cost, and lifecycle requirements. Drive Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), Design for Cost (DFC), and Design for Reliability (DFR) throughout product development. Support engineering change management, configuration control, root cause investigations, and continuous product improvement. Customer Technical Leadership Act as the primary technical interface with customers throughout the complete product development lifecycle. Capture customer needs and translate business and technical requirements into innovative engineering solutions. Lead technical workshops, design reviews, project meetings, and engineering presentations with customers. Provide technical leadership during proposal development, feasibility studies, and product definition activities. Build long‑term technical relationships with customers while ensuring successful project execution and high levels of customer satisfaction. Technical Leadership Provide day‑to‑day technical leadership and mentoring to the mechanical engineering team. Review and approve engineering designs, calculations, analyses, technical documentation, and validation activities. Promote engineering standards, design best practices, and continuous improvement initiatives across the mechanical engineering function. Foster a collaborative, accountable, and high-performance engineering culture through coaching and knowledge sharing. Support capability development and contribute to the growth of the engineering organization. Cross-functional Collaboration and Project Delivery Collaborate closely with Electronics, Systems Engineering, Software, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, and Project Management teams throughout the product lifecycle. Coordinate engineering activities with suppliers and manufacturing partners to ensure successful product industrialization.
Support project planning, technical estimation, resource forecasting, and technical risk management. Communicate technical progress, risks, and engineering recommendations to senior management and key stakeholders. Ensure engineering deliverables are completed within agreed technical, quality, budget, and schedule objectives. Required Qualifications Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline. Minimum of 10 years of experience developing complex engineering products or systems within aerospace, defence, industrial equipment, robotics, automotive, or other high-technology industries. Demonstrated experience owning products throughout the complete development lifecycle, from concept through industrialization. Proven experience leading multidisciplinary engineering projects while remaining actively involved in hands‑on mechanical design and product development. Strong expertise in precision mechanical design, mechanical system integration, and product development. Advanced proficiency using 3 D CAD software such as Solid Works, Creo, Siemens NX, CATIA, or similar. Strong knowledge of GD&T;, tolerance analysis, materials engineering, manufacturing processes, engineering drawings, and technical documentation. Experience acting as the technical interface with customers throughout complex engineering programmes. Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and technical presentation skills. Professional proficiency in English. Preferred Experience Experience developing high-value engineering systems within aerospace, defence, space, advanced manufacturing, robotics, medical technology, or similarly demanding engineering environments. Experience supporting product verification, validation, qualification, and industrialization activities. Familiarity with systems engineering principles and multidisciplinary product development methodologies. Experience performing structural, thermal, vibration, fatigue, or finite element analysis (FEA). Experience working within regulated or quality-driven engineering environments with robust engineering governance and configuration management processes. Chartered Engineer status or equivalent professional accreditation would be considered an advantage. #J-18808-Ljbffr
