As Development Engineer for Functional Safety, you will drive safe-critical electronic control development within AVL’s software team in San Sebastián. You’ll work on e-powertrain, chassis, power electronics, HV-Battery and ADAS safety functions aligned with ISO 26262, and support concepts up to production. You will apply model-based methods and contribute to safety analyses, documentation, and customer coordination. This role offers international exposure and the chance to shape next-gen mobility technologies.

• Develop safe-critical electronic control functions under ISO 26262 guidelines (e-powertrain, chassis, power electronics, HV-Battery, ADAS)
• Coordinate customer requirements after training and support concept realization up to production
• Support optimization/review of functional models using model-based development and define test/validation strategies
• Plan, coordinate,



and supervise tasks within the functional safety process
• Document functional safety work products and maintain traceability
• Perform risk assessments and safety analyses (HARA, FMEA, FTA) according to standards
• Represent functional safety and cybersecurity within AVL and for customers
• Support development of new technologies
Responsabilidades
• Degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, mechatronics, vehicle technology, physics, computer science or similar
• Interest in mobility development, xqbhyrx functional safety, automotive cybersecurity, and automated driving technologies
• Basic experience in control engineering and model-based development (MATLAB/Simulink, SysML or similar)
• Familiarity with automotive development processes and Functional Safety standards (ISO 26262, IEC 61508)
• Versátil, proactive, structured, and detail-oriented working style
• Strong communication and teamwork
• Proficient English and Spanish (German a plus)
