As a Senior Backend Engineer on the Gateways team, you will own high-performance gateway and routing components in Go and shape the API management layer that connects external consumers with Workato’s core services. You will drive architectural direction, implement auth and traffic control features, and collaborate with SRE and Platform teams to meet availability and scalability targets. This role offers impact at scale, contributing to a secure, AI-enabled gateway infrastructure that supports real-time orchestration. You will work in a fast-paced, globally distributed environment with a strong emphasis on reliability and performance.
Compensaciones / Incentivos
• Design, build, and operate high-performance gateway and routing components in Go
• Own technical direction for your area: design docs, architectural reviews, trade-offs, and decisive outcomes
• Develop and evolve infrastructure for authentication, caching, rate limiting, queuing, and traffic shaping
• Collaborate with SRE, Infrastructure, and Platform teams to meet availability, scalability, and observability goals




• Stay updated on relevant technologies and patterns; present findings for architectural review
• Deliver end-to-end features from design to production maintenance
Responsabilidades
• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience
• 5+ years of backend development in Go with strong concurrency, performance profiling, and idiomatic design
• Deep understanding of Go internals (scheduler, GC, memory model)
• Strong systems programming foundation and understanding of below-application-layer operations
• Deep network knowledge (TLS/mTLS, HTTP/1.1/2/3, WebSocket, SSE)
• Applied cryptography: encryption, cert chains, xqbhyrx key management, signing/verification
• Proven track record designing and scaling distributed, highly available systems
• Solid understanding of large-scale web infrastructure (load balancers, proxies, apps, databases, caches, MQ, observability)
• Experience authoring architecture/design docs and leading technical reviews
• Ability to identify and solve bottlenecks at code and system levels
• Working knowledge of Kubernetes concepts and deployment patterns
• BS/MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent demonstrated experience
