In this role you will lead the end-to-end engineering of microwave instruments for Earth observation missions, including active and passive sensors. You will collaborate across departments to translate mission requirements into system specifications and budgets, shaping instrument concepts and their validation. You will work on multiple studies and proposals, driving trade-offs and ensuring coherence from concept to on-board data processing. This position offers hands-on impact in cutting-edge microwave payloads within a world-class aerospace team.
Compensaciones / Ventajas
• Define and assess performance of microwave instrument programs aligned with mission and program requirements
• Provide expert support for microwave payload studies and department-level developments
• Identify major tradeoffs and contribute to instrument/system concepts and budgets
• Perform end-to-end system engineering for remote sensing missions based on microwave instruments
• Translate mission requirements into system requirements and allocate them to system elements
• Develop system budgets and ensure overall coherence of the end-to-end architecture
• Select technologies and define development approaches and tools
• Define onboard/on-ground data processing needs to meet quality specs
• Manage industrial contracts for instrument concepts or subsystems
• Analyze RF design including array antennas and RF budgets




• Support instrument performance budgets in coordination with ground processing
• Contribute to validation/verification plans for current/future microwave instruments
• Interface with customers and participate in review meetings
• Contribute to proposals for future Earth Observation instruments/missions
• Coordinate a multidisciplinary instrument development team
• Prepare proposals including development concept and required industrialization
• Contribute to Airbus roadmaps for microwave instruments and technologies
Responsabilidades
• Degree in electric/electronic engineering or physics
• 3 years of experience in remote sensing microwave instruments development
• English at negotiation level (written and spoken)
• Spanish language skills valued
• Strong knowledge of active or passive microwave instrument concepts (SAR, xqbhyrx altimetry and/or radiometry)
• Strong knowledge of signal processing
• Knowledge of ESA program phases and development cycles
• Familiarity with SAR, RF engineering, space systems and RF measurements on flight equipment
• Experience with verification and validation campaigns
• Ability to work in small teams and autonomously
• Ability to manage workload across multiple projects
• Ability to lead in a multi-disciplinary, transnational environment
• International experience is an asset
• Willingness to travel
