As a Physical Compute Engineer at Roche, you will lead and shape the end-to-end lifecycle of physical compute infrastructure across global data centers. You will partner with cross-functional teams to design resilient, automated, and compliant compute solutions, aligning with Roche’s Technical Architecture Framework and regulatory standards. You’ll influence vendor partnerships and manage complex hardware programs, driving efficiency and reliability in mission-critical workloads. This role offers the chance to impact large-scale infrastructure that underpins Roche’s mission to improve access to healthcare.
Compensaciones / Beneficios
• Oversee the complete compute hardware lifecycle from sizing and procurement to installation and connectivity, ensuring efficient processes
• Lead engineering standards and automation to minimize manual work across all physical compute assets
• Coordinate across Value streams, Network, OS, Automation, Datacenter staff and vendors on delivery and planning
• Act as a technical advisor to stakeholders, translating needs into standard solutions and communicating complex concepts clearly
• Influence IT infrastructure vendor evaluations and manage governance with hardware partners (SLAs, KPIs, contracts)
• Evaluate emerging technologies via PoCs ensuring alignment with Roche’s architecture and regulatory standards
• Estimate resources, risks and timelines for complex initiatives and provide escalation support to major incidents
Responsabilidades
• 7-10 years in hardware engineering/operations, data center infra, or systems administration
• Hands-on with physical infrastructure management and major enterprise data center vendors (HPE, Lenovo, NVIDIA)
• Experience with HPE OneView xqbhyrx and Lenovo XClarity
• Knowledge of compute offerings for hyperconverged, HPC, AICompute (NVIDIA) including HPE Synergy/ProLiant, Lenovo ThinkAgile
• Lifecycle management of hardware including planning, installation, maintenance, decommissioning; vendor performance management
• Infrastructure as Code (IaC) provisioning
• Scripting (Shell/Python) and DevOps/CI-CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab/GitHub)
• Agile/Scrum in regulated environments
• Strong collaboration, influencing skills and multicultural experience
• Advanced English proficiency
