It houses MareNostrum, one of the most powerful supercomputers in Europe, was a founding and hosting member of the former European HPC infrastructure PRACE (Partnership for Advanced Computing in Europe), and is now hosting entity for EuroHPC JU, the Joint Undertaking that leads large-scale investments and HPC provision in Europe. The mission of BSC is to research, develop and manage information technologies in order to facilitate scientific progress. BSC combines HPC service provision and R&D; into both computer and computational science (life, earth and engineering sciences) under one roof, and currently has over 1000 staff from 60 countries.

Scientists from different scientific groups rely on this shared data archive curated by the Data and Diagnostics Team (DDT, composed of around 20 members), which is in charge, among other activities, of downloading, standardizing, checking, and curating the data into standardized netcdf format fitting the community standards and the requirements from the tools developed by the group.
The successful candidate will join the Data and Diagnostics Team to elaborate a long-term strategy on the data archiving and ingestion pipelines, elaborating the strategy based on the state-of-the-art analysis tools, storage formats (Zarr, for example), the requirements from the users of the department (AI-readiness, compression, operationalization,...) and the strategy used in institutions similar to the BSC, including travels to the corresponding institutions to gain in-depth understanding of their strategy.
The successful candidate will be in charge of proposing possible reconversion of the current data archive preserving compatibility with the existing tools and data pipelines,
