The primary responsibility of this position is to provide cross-functional engineering support, primarily focused on Hardware while contributing to Firmware activities whenever required.
The role will support the redesign, integration, optimization and validation of the BraiN20® electronic and embedded architecture.
Key Responsibilities
Hardware Development
- Design, redesign and optimize electronic circuits, schematics and PCBs
- Select, evaluate and validate electronic components
- Perform electrical, functional and integration testing of electronic assemblies
- Support prototype manufacturing, debugging and verification activities
- Manage component sourcing and purchasing activities
Firmware Development
- Support firmware integration, debugging and validation
- Participate in hardware bring-up and embedded software testing
- Contribute to firmware development in Embedded C/C++
- Support the migration towards the NXP i.MX93 embedded Linux platform
Product Development
- Collaborate with hardware, firmware, biomedical and mechanical engineers throughout the complete product lifecycle
- Prepare engineering documentation, design reports and validation documentation
- Participate in verification activities, healthy volunteer studies and clinical evaluations
Required Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Automation Engineering or a related discipline.
Professional Experience
- Minimum 4 years of experience in electronic hardware development
- Experience designing electronic hardware, including schematics, PCB design and component selection
- Experience performing PCB electrical and functional validation
- Experience using Altium Designer
- Practical experience developing embedded firmware using C/C++
- Experience working with embedded systems
Preferred Qualifications
We would especially value candidates with experience in the following areas:
- Experience with embedded Linux platforms based on application processors (preferably NXP i.MX family)
- Communication protocols such as SPI, I²C, CAN, USB or Ethernet
- Python scripting or automation
- Regulated environments (medical, automotive, aerospace or industrial)
- IEC 62304, ISO 14971 and CE certification processes
Soft Skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within multidisciplinary teams
- Good planning and time management skills
