About AFS

Advanced Field Solutions is an established software company building field-service management products used by organisations across Ireland and the UK.

Our platforms contain approximately four million historical service records. We are now using this operational data to develop practical AI products, including voice agents, diagnostic assistants, intelligent reporting, knowledge retrieval, workflow automation and natural-language access to business data.

This is an opportunity to build AI systems around real products, customers and operational data—not purely experimental or academic projects.

The role

We are looking for an Applied AI Engineer with strong Python foundations and genuine hands‑on experience building AI or LLM-based systems.

The immediate focus is AI development rather than general frontend or traditional backend work. You will work closely with our existing AI engineer and product team to take AI features from an identified business problem through development, testing, deployment and ongoing improvement.

What you will work on

- AI voice agents for field-service workflows.
- Retrieval‑augmented generation using company and customer knowledge.
- Tool‑calling and agentic systems connected to APIs and databases.
- Natural‑language querying of structured operational data.
- Diagnostic assistants that learn from historical service cases.
- Automated onboarding, reporting and business‑process workflows.
- Evaluation systems for accuracy, faithfulness and reliability.
- Monitoring latency, token usage, cost and production failures.




- Python APIs and services supporting AI products.
- Deployment and operation of AI services in production.

Essential experience

- At least two years of substantial Python development experience.
- Hands‑on experience building an AI or LLM system used by real customers, employees or production users.
- Experience with LLM APIs, RAG, tool calling, agents or structured model outputs.
- Building REST APIs using FastAPI, Flask, Django or an equivalent Python framework.
- SQL databases such as PostgreSQL.
- Docker and practical deployment experience.
- Understanding of testing, monitoring, logging and failure handling.
- Ability to explain what you personally designed, built and delivered.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to connect technical work to a business outcome.
- Good working English.

Highly desirable

- LangChain, LangGraph, LlamaIndex or equivalent frameworks.
- Vector databases and embedding‑based retrieval.
- AI evaluation tools and observability platforms.
- Prompt‑injection protection and AI security controls.
- Asynchronous Python and production API design.
- Azure, AWS or Google Cloud.
- Voice‑agent or speech‑system development.




- CI/CD and automated testing.
- Experience working with SaaS or operational business systems.

Evidence we will ask for

Applicants should be prepared to discuss one AI system they personally helped take into production, including:

- The business problem it solved.
- Their individual contribution.
- Who used the system.
- How it was deployed.
- How accuracy and reliability were evaluated.
- How failures, hallucinations, latency and cost were managed.
- Any measurable result achieved.

Please do not apply if your AI experience consists only of coursework, personal experimentation, prompt writing or basic integration with an AI API without production responsibility.

Working arrangements

This position is based in our Fuengirola office five days per week. It is not a remote or hybrid position.

Applicants must already have unrestricted permission to work in Spain. AFS cannot provide visa sponsorship for this vacancy.

The approved salary range is €30,000-€33,000 gross per year, depending on experience. A formal performance and salary review will take place after six months.
