Title: Laboratory Technician in the Instrumental Analysis Laboratory at the BETA Technology Centre

Description: The BETA Technology Centre comprises a young, multidisciplinary team of 140 researchers and is looking to recruit a dynamic individual with leadership skills who is keen to be part of this project. We are seeking a Technician to work in the Centre’s instrumental analysis laboratory. The BETA Technology Centre has experienced exponential growth since its creation in late 2014, and since March 2021 has been operating from new premises with over 800 m² of laboratories and pilot plant facilities. Within these new facilities, the instrumental analysis laboratory is a key component and currently houses the following equipment: gas chromatographs (with ECD, FID, MS and TCD detectors), UV spectrophotometers, liquid chromatographs (HPLC and IC), CHN elemental analysers and flame atomic absorption spectroscopy.

Functions and duties:

- Carrying out routine sample analyses using the instrumental analysis equipment at the CT BETA.
- Carrying out regular maintenance on the equipment and carrying out minor repairs where necessary.




- Supporting researchers in the development of new analytical methods: conducting literature searches, developing the method, validating it where necessary, and drafting the protocol.

Title

Intermediate vocational training in fields related to the subject of the call for applications.

Certification of Level C1 in Catalan or commitment to obtain it.

Accreditation of Level B2 English or commitment to obtain it.

Knowledge of and previous experience with instrumental analytical techniques, such as: ion chromatography, liquid and gas chromatography, atomic absorption, amongst others.

- University degree in: a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biotechnology, Environmental Sciences or a related field.
- PhD in Chemistry or a related field.
- Previous experience working in other instrumental analysis laboratories, preferably in the environmental sector.
- Experience working in research, either at universities or research centres.
