IMDEA Energy is opening a Research Assistant position in the Biotechnological Processes Unit. The role involves working on bioethanol production from pretreated municipal solid waste.

Tasks Description

- Macromolecular characterization of the substrate.
- Optimization of the enzymatic hydrolysis step.
- Production of bioethanol from hydrolyzed streams.
- Assessment of simultaneous enzymatic hydrolysis and fermentation.
- Process scale‑up to 50 L bioreactors.

Compulsory Requirements

- Degree in Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering, Biology or related areas.

Other Merits to Value

- Previous experience with yeast fermentation.
- Previous experience in a biotechnology lab (analytics, microorganism cultivation, waste valorisation, etc.).
- Oral and written communication skills in English.

- Adequacy of the candidate's background to the requested profile.
- Work experience related to the profile of the job position.
- Knowledge of English.
- Motivation for accomplishing high‑quality research.

Conditions

The contract includes all the benefits of the Spanish Public Health and Social Security System.

- Contract: 6 months
