AI Tech Lead | Barcelona (Hybrid) | 6+ Month Contract

We are currently looking for an experienced AI Tech Lead to join the AI programme of one of our clients based in Barcelona .

Location: Barcelona, Spain (Hybrid with 2-3 days onsite)

Contract: 6+ months

Languages: Fluent English and Spanish (both mandatory)

About the Role

As the AI Tech Lead, you will lead a cross-functional AI engineering squad, driving the technical vision, architecture, and delivery of innovative AI solutions. You will work closely with Product Owners, Data Scientists, Developers, and business stakeholders to deliver scalable, cloud-based AI applications.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead a cross-functional AI squad of up to 6 engineers, ensuring alignment on technical direction, priorities, and delivery timelines.
- Define and enforce technical standards, architecture guidelines, and engineering best practices.
- Design and oversee scalable backend systems and APIs supporting AI solutions on Azure.
- Drive the integration of AI capabilities, including Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), Large Language Models (LLMs), Speech-to-Text, Computer Vision, and Intelligent Document Processing (IDP).
- Architect and validate cloud-based AI solutions using Azure Functions, App Services, Cosmos DB,



Azure Key Vault, and Azure OpenAI.
- Conduct code reviews, mentor engineers, and support technical development within the team.
- Act as the technical point of contact between the AI squad and key stakeholders.
- Ensure AI solutions meet high standards for performance, reliability, scalability, and observability.
- Stay up to date with the latest developments in Generative AI, LLMs, and Prompt Engineering, translating innovation into practical solutions.

Required Skills and Experience

- 7+ years of relevant experience.
- Proven experience leading AI engineering teams.
- Strong experience designing and delivering end-to-end AI solutions in cloud environments.
- Hands-on experience with RAG and Generative AI.
- Strong backend engineering and API development expertise.
- Extensive experience with Azure, including Functions, App Services, Cosmos DB, Azure Key Vault, and Azure OpenAI.
- Solid understanding of LLMs and Prompt Engineering.
- Fluent English and Spanish.

Nice to Have

- Experience with Speech-to-Text solutions.
- Experience with Computer Vision.
- Experience with Intelligent Document Processing (IDP).
