Global Cyber Defence Manager – Security Operations & Incident Response

We're looking for a Global Cyber Defence Manager to lead and evolve a modern cyber defence capability across a global technology environment.

This is a senior leadership role for someone who combines deep technical security expertise with proven people management experience. You'll be responsible for shaping security operations, incident response, threat detection and cyber defence strategy across enterprise and cloud environments while building and developing a high-performing integral team.

This isn't a governance-only or hands-off management position. We're seeking a leader who remains close to the technology, understands modern threats and can help drive the next generation of security operations through automation, intelligence-led defence and continuous improvement.

You'll work closely with Engineering, Product, Infrastructure and Executive stakeholders to strengthen resilience, improve detection capabilities and ensure security remains embedded throughout the technology lifecycle.

The Role

You’ll own the strategic direction and day-to-day leadership of Security Operations and Incident Response, helping the organisation identify, contain and respond to increasingly sophisticated cyber threats.

You’ll be responsible for developing cyber defence capabilities, maturing operational processes and ensuring teams have the tools, intelligence and expertise needed to protect a complex global technology estate.

What You’ll Do

- Lead, mentor and develop a global team of security analysts and cyber defence engineers
- Own the strategy,



architecture and operational effectiveness of Security Operations
- Build and maintain incident response frameworks, playbooks and operational processes
- Oversee the identification, containment and remediation of cyber security incidents
- Drive automation across threat detection, investigation and response workflows
- Evaluate and implement modern security tooling across SIEM, SOAR and telemetry platforms
- Partner with engineering and infrastructure teams to improve security posture and resilience
- Lead threat modelling exercises, breach simulations and cyber readiness activities
- Define meaningful cyber security metrics and provide executive-level reporting
- Manage cyber defence initiatives within an agile delivery framework
- Foster a security-first culture across the wider organisation

What We’re Looking For

- Proven leadership experience within Security Operations, Cyber Defence or Incident Response functions
- Strong understanding of SOC design, threat detection and cyber defence strategy
- Experience securing enterprise-scale cloud environments across AWS, Azure and/or GCP
- Deep knowledge of modern cyber threats, attack techniques and threat actor behaviours




- Experience designing and automating incident response processes and workflows
- Strong understanding of security frameworks such as NIST CSF and MITRE ATT&CK;
- Experience with SIEM, SOAR and security monitoring technologies
- Ability to perform effectively during high-pressure security incidents
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to communicate at both technical and executive levels
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Ideal Background

- Experienced Cyber Defence Leader, SOC Manager or Incident Response Manager
- Proven track record mitigating sophisticated cyber threats and large-scale security incidents
- Strong technical understanding of cloud-native security architectures
- Experience spanning security operations, threat detection and response engineering
- Comfortable balancing strategic leadership with hands‑on technical decision making
- Experience building and scaling high-performing global security teams
- Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, GIAC or equivalent would be advantageous
- Exposure to both offensive and defensive security disciplines would be highly beneficial
