About S&EM; Iberia

S&EM; Iberia is a local Business Platform of ENGIE S&EM;, active in Energy Management (Asset Optimization and Trading) and Client’s businesses (Wholesale and B2B) across Spain and Portugal. It employs 90 energy professionals, providing integrated energy management services for ENGIE’s 7.7 GW renewables and low‑carbon generation assets.

Context

In this position you will be part of Supply Portfolio Management (SPM), which optimises and manages an energy supply portfolio. Your role will focus on forecasting energy consumption, pricing strategies, and grid data analysis, supporting local and global projects and sharing best practices.

Role

As a Forecasting Team Member, you will develop forecasting processes and models under the guidance of the Forecasting Local Leader. You will collaborate with portfolio managers, pricers, and other stakeholders to produce accurate and timely forecasting outputs, contributing to cost optimisation, sourcing, and hedging strategies.

- Design, implement, and continuously improve forecasting tools, models, and processes.
- Represent commodity exposures and associated risks, including commercial position evolution and climatic impacts.




- Support the development of forecasting components for new commercial offers.
- Analyse customer behaviour to enhance forecasting accuracy.
- Execute forecasting models reliably, maintaining consistency and quality.
- Provide deep insights into commodity sales portfolios (Natural Gas, Power, Certificates).
- Leverage internal and external data sources for robust portfolio and consumption representation.
- Advocate good practices in data handling, model development, and coding standards.
- Ensure code quality and maintainability.
- Collaborate with quantitative analysts and data scientists across teams.

Hard Skills

- Strong background in mathematics (probability, statistics), data science, and machine learning with time‑series forecasting experience.
- Proficient in Python and R; familiarity with software development best practices, including version control (Git).
- Hands‑on data handling and operational analytics, delivering business‑relevant solutions.
- Excellent communication skills, explaining technical concepts clearly to non‑experts.
- Interest in energy markets and transition topics, willing to deepen knowledge of market design and regulation.




- Understanding of energy supply business processes and local market design is a plus.
- Knowledge of modern data science platforms (Databricks, Spark) is a strong asset.
- Experience with cloud‑based analytics environments and digital forecasting tools.

- Master’s degree or PhD in applied mathematics, engineering, data science, physics, economics, or a related quantitative field.
- 2+ years of forecasting, data science, or quantitative analysis experience, preferably in the energy sector.
