Insight General is hiring a Senior Backend Engineer to support one of our large consulting clients. this role will be supporting cutting-edge projects within the AI space and sitting remotely in Europe.

Day-to-Day

- Design, develop, and deploy scalable backend services and APIs supporting a high-performance distributed application
- Build and optimize microservices architecture and event-driven systems to support real-time processing [Backend -Develop server-side logic using Python (FastAPI/Flask) and integrate with cloud-based infrastructure (AWS))
- Implement and maintain messaging systems and streaming pipelines to support application workflows
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams across global time zones to deliver production-ready features
- Execute testing strategies (unit, integration, load) and resolve performance or reliability issues
- Communicate technical progress clearly to both engineering and business stakeholders

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

- 8–10+ years of backend engineering experience in production environments -Strong Python experience building REST APIs (FastAPI, Flask, or similar)




- Experience designing and deploying microservices in containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Strong understanding of cloud platforms (AWS) and serverless components (Lambda, SQS, Step Functions) -Experience with databases (SQL + NoSQL) and distributed systems architecture
- Hands-on experience with event-driven architectures and messaging systems
- Strong debugging, performance optimization, and system design skills
- Ability to communicate technical concepts and progress clearly to non-technical stakeholders

NICE TO HAVE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

- Experience with GenAI applications or RAG-based systems
- Exposure to AI-first development environments, including working alongside LLM systems or agentic workflows -Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation)
- Experience with distributed search technologies such as Elasticsearch
- Experience working in globally distributed engineering teams
