Role Description
Own our back office. All of it.
We are looking for someone to own the entire administrative and financial engine of the group, the holding and its ventures. Not support it. Own it.
This is a builder role. You will create the processes, systems, controls and discipline from scratch. If you enjoy improving an existing finance function, this is probably not for you. If you enjoy building one, keep reading.
You report directly to the CEO, a senior international executive in the sector, and act as the main point of contact for the accounting firm, banks, payroll provider, public funding bodies and key suppliers. Your role is to solve problems, build scalable processes and bring the CEO recommendations, not questions.
Your responsibilities include:
• Public funding: identify, secure and justify grants (IVACE, CDTI, ENISA, NEOTEC, Eurostars), manage eligible costs, audit-ready documentation and R&D; tax incentives.
• Finance & accounting: coordinate the full accounting and tax cycle with our external firm, including intercompany agreements.
• Cash management: banking, payments, collections, budgeting and cash flow forecasting, raising issues before they become problems.
• People & operations: payroll, employment contracts, Social Security, suppliers, insurance and helping establish our Valencia office.
• Corporate administration: company records, legal documentation with external counsel, and expense management.
We are early stage. There is no finance department, no legacy processes and no bureaucracy. There is also no equity at this stage.
The role starts at 50% because that is what today's workload requires, not because that is the limit.



As the group grows, the role is expected to grow towards full time. We are hiring the person we want leading this function in the future, not only the one who fits today's needs.

Qualifications
Fluent English (written and spoken). Non-negotiable.
10+ years in finance and administration, owning the full Spanish accounting and tax cycle.
Proven experience managing and justifying public funding (CDTI, IVACE, ENISA, Horizon Europe or similar).
Strong knowledge of Spanish accounting (PGC), VAT, corporate tax, withholdings and Commercial Registry filings.
Budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management and internal controls.
Payroll and Social Security administration with external providers.
Advanced Excel and confidence implementing finance systems from scratch.
Builder mindset: you have created functions or processes from zero, not only managed existing ones.
Highly autonomous, hands-on and comfortable working without a finance team.
Startup and/or biotech experience preferred.
Based in the Valencia area with regular in-person availability.
High level of discretion.
Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics or related field.
