Not funded by a EU programme Is the Job related to staff position within a Research Infrastructure? No /ph3Offer Description /h3pThe Computational Biology Group at CIC bioGUNE seeks highly skilled and motivated postdoctoral researchers to work on an exciting project that aims at the development of computational approaches for designing neuronal cell conversion protocols. The selected candidate will develop a computational platform to identify hierarchical combinations of cell fate conversion factors, which will in turn be used to engineer highly specialized neuronal subtypes for cell transplantation therapies in animal models of Alzheimer's disease, stroke, and epilepsy. To achieve this goal, the candidate will combine a gene network-based approach with a machine learning model (foundational model) to propose protocols for the sequential induction of transcription factors to generate desired cell subtypes. The selected candidate will be part of a Canadian federal grant project (NFRF)
with international collaborators who will conduct experimental validation of the computational predictions to translate neuronal reprogramming into clinical practice. /ppThe Computational Biology Group aims at establishing a solid infrastructure to develop theoretical frameworks for computational modeling of biomedical problems, especially in the areas of stem cell research, aging and disease modeling. The group closely collaborates with leading national and international experimental labs with a particular interest in stem cell research and regenerative medicine. /ph3Essential skills and qualities /h3ulliPh.D. degree in computational biology, bioinformatics, biology, computer science, physics or related disciplines /liliStrong computational skills in at least one programming language (e.g. R or Python) /liliA strong publication record in related fields /liliExcellent communication and working knowledge in English /li /ulh3Ideal skills /h3ulliPrior experience in computational systems biology /liliPrior knowledge about transcriptional regulation and the prediction of cellular conversion factors /liliExperience working in a multi-disciplinary research environment /li /ulh3We offer /h3ulliOpportunity to do highly interdisciplinary research to solve complex biomedical problems within a dynamic research institution (CIC bioGUNE) and in collaboration with internationally recognized partner /liliAn exciting international environment. /li /ulh3Application Deadline /h3pThe deadline for submission of applications is August 15th, 2026. /ph3Requirements /h3pResearch Field Biological sciences » Biological engineering Education Level PhD or equivalent /ppResearch Field Mathematics » Applied mathematics Education Level PhD or equivalent /ppResearch Field Physics » Biophysics Education Level PhD or equivalent /ppResearch Field Medical sciences » Health sciences Education Level PhD or equivalent /ppResearch Field Computer science » Modelling tools Education Level PhD or equivalent /ppSkills/Qualifications /ppEssential skills and qualities:br/Ph.D. degree in computational biology, bioinformatics, biology, computer science, physics or related disciplinesbr/Strong computational skills in at least one programming language (e.g. R or Python)br/A strong publication record in related fieldsbr/Excellent communication and working knowledge in English /ppSpecific Requirements /ppPrior experience in computational systems biologybr/Prior knowledge about transcriptional regulation and the prediction of cellular conversion factorsbr/Experience working in a multi-disciplinary research environment /ppLanguages ENGLISH Level Excellent /ppResearch Field Biological sciences » Biological engineeringMathematics » Applied mathematicsPhysics » BiophysicsComputer science » Modelling toolsMedical sciences » Health sciences /ppBizkaia Science and Technology Park bld 801 A /p /p #J-18808-Ljbffr
