No /p h3Offer Description /h3 pTECNUN, the Engineering School of the University of Navarra, through the Mechanical Engineering and Materials Department, seeks to fill a btenured professor position /b as part of its academic staff in the field of bMechanical Analysis and Design, /b to begin in bSeptember 2026 /b.br/As a member of the academic staff, the candidate will contribute to the University of Navarra’s three core tasks: research, education and management. Thus, his/her role will consist primarily of basic and applied research (50%), lecturing (40%), and services and management (10%). /p h3Profile /h3 pCandidates will be expected to hold a relevant doctoral level research degree, and a distinguished academic record including international research, demonstrating appropriate markers of academic recognition. Specifically for this position is required: /p ul liA PhD in Mechanical Engineering in the field of analysis and design of machine components and mechanisms. /li liAn international academic portfolio and skills to conduct high-quality academic research and teaching. /li liCandidates will be expected to show the capacity to publish excellent papers in highly indexed journals as well as the capacity to find research funding opportunities, write research project proposals, and lead and develop research projects. /li liKnowledge and interest in identity and core values of the University of Navarra. /li /ul h3Research /h3 pThe Machines and Vehicles Research Group at Tecnun is a multidisciplinary team with an extensive experience in analysis and design of machines and mechanisms, both by experimental methods and analytical and numerical calculation, including the dynamics aspects like vibration transmission and fatigue tests. Some of the current research activities are: /p ul liAnalysis and design of the components of transmission systems for off-road vehicles. /li liStudy of fatigue and aging phenomena in mechanical components. /li liStatic and dynamic characterization of machine components.



/li liCalculation and optimization using numerical methods (FEM). /li liNoise and vibration transmission. /li liDesign and construction of test benches. /li /ul pCandidates will have the opportunity to develop his/her own research in a closed relationship with other members of the group, other faculties or research institutions at the university related to the above-mentioned areas. /p pSpecifically, candidate should be able: /p ul liInitiate new lines of research and coordinate the progress of scientific research projects. He/she will also participate in ongoing research programs. /li liAcquire and manage national and international research funding. /li liPublish in top-ranked international journals. /li liDevelop an international scientific network. /li liSupervise PhD students. /li /ul h3Profile /h3 pCandidates will be expected to hold a relevant doctoral level research degree, and a distinguished academic record including international research, demonstrating appropriate markers of academic recognition. /li /ul h3What is offered /h3 ul liWe offer a full-time academic position as a tenure track lecturer for a period of two years. Following a favourable internal and external evaluation, this period will be followed by permanent appointment (tenure) as Assistant/Associate/Full professor. /li liThe planned start date is 1 September 2026 or as soon as possible after that date. /li liCandidate will do most of the work at San Sebastián Campus of the University of Navarra (tecnun.unav.edu), where all teaching and research activities related to engineering are carried out, but some of the lectures will be given in Madrid Campus (madrid.unav.edu), where University of Navarra offers Master’s degree programs. /li /ul h3Specific Requirements /h3 h3About us /h3 pThe University of Navarra ( ) is an international University committed to quality teaching and excellence in research.
