Description

Semiconductor supplier KD provides innovative high-speed optical networking for harsh environments. Making gigabit communication over fiber optics a reality, KD technology supplies 1-50 Gb/s optical fiber links for automotive, industrial, and home networks.

KD has about 50 employees, founded in 2010 in Madrid, Spain, KD offers its cost-effective technology as either ASSP or IP (Intellectual Property) to be integrated in SoCs (System-on-Chips).

In 2022 KD initiated a transformational journey to expand their capabilities to include a high-volume production factory for the packaging and testing of their chips.

KD is in full growth of the operations teams making live by 2026 the launching of 3000 m2 factory with fully automatic pilot lines able to reach more than 8 million chips/year.

As a result, we are looking for an Automation Engineer.

Please find below the responsibilities, profile, conditions and other details of the position:

Tasks & Responsibilities

- Define requirements for new equipment for high-volume production lines and prepare specs for purchase process.
- Be key contact for equipment suppliers, supporting the process of equipment acquisition, including selection, trials, tooling definition, acceptance test and training.
- Coordinate installation and site acceptance test for production intended equipment.
- In charge of automation set up (programming process recipes), optimization machine configuration, define tooling and process workflow for production lines.
- Support M2M protocol configuration.
- Create and update procedures, work instructions, production workflows and provide training for production line technicians.
- Optimize automation and machine configuration to reach intended production rates.
- Support Process engineers during the development of new products.
- Release programming for new product/process recipes.
- Make proposals for process, quality and safety improvements.
- Support production team on problem solving and troubleshooting during ramp up and production life cycle.
- Support production team to optimize equipment KPI: Efficiency, utilization, OEE, etc.




- Manage MES, ERP and related software for production release.

What You Bring

- Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related fields.
- Attention to details, able to communicate effectively and willing to meet schedule target.
- Adaptability to changes of priorities and jobs.
- Willingness to work with automated equipment in high-volume production environments.
- Able to work in cleanroom environment, wearing proper coat, hairnet, shoes, gloves and masks.
- Able to communicate and write in English.
- Interest and/or previous experience in automation, machinery and robotics.
- Nice to have
- Knowledge of semiconductor packaging equipment, such as die bonder, wire bonder, screen printer and pick and place, laser marking and dicing is a plus.
- Experience in equipment interface protocol for equipment-to-host data communication like SECS/ GEM or equivalent
- Experience in high volume production lines in automotive industry.
