We’re looking for a detail‑oriented and trustworthy Payroll Specialist to join our team! In this role, you’ll be responsible for ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time, while maintaining compliance with all applicable laws and internal policies. You’ll work closely with People Operations, Finance, and external providers to support a smooth and efficient payroll process. You will also collaborate in other People Operations processes.
This is a 6‑month to 1‑year fixed‑term contract to cover a parental leave.
What you’ll do (Key Responsibilities)
- Process payroll accurately and timely for all employees in Spain and Italy
- Ensure compliance with local labour laws, tax regulations, and internal policies
- Maintain and update payroll records and employee data (e.g., salaries, bonuses, deductions)
- Collaborate with new hires, terminations, and changes in compensation
- Reconcile payroll reports and resolve discrepancies or errors
- Coordinate with Finance for payroll‑related journal entries and reporting
- Manage relationships with external payroll vendors or platforms
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll, taxes, and payslips
- Support audits and reporting requirements as needed
✅ What you’ll have (Requirements)
- Proven experience as a Payroll Specialist, Payroll Administrator, or similar role in Spain (+2 or 3 years experience)
- Solid understanding of payroll principles, labour legislation, and tax regulations
- Experience working with payroll software (e.g., ADP, SAP, Workday, Deel, etc.)
- Strong attention to detail and high level of confidentiality
- Comfortable working with spreadsheets and payroll reports
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Fluent in English and Spanish
Nice to Have
- Experience working in a multinational or remote‑first company
- Familiarity with payroll processes in Italy
- Knowledge of benefits administration and HRIS tools
