Join Proton and build a better internet where privacy is the default. At Proton, we believe that privacy is a fundamental human right and the cornerstone of democracy. Since our inception in ****, founded by a team of scientists from CERN, we have dedicated ourselves to providing free and open-source technology to millions worldwide, ensuring access to privacy, security, and freedom online. Our journey began with Proton Mail, the largest secure email service globally, and has since expanded to include Proton VPN, Proton Calendar, Proton Drive, and Proton Pass.
These tools empower individuals and organizations to take control of their personal data, break away from Big Tech's invasive practices, and defeat censorship. Our work impacts hundreds of millions of lives, from activists on the front lines defending freedom to leaders in governments protecting sensitive information. In some cases, Proton's services have even been instrumental in saving lives by enabling secure and private communications in high-risk situations.
Proton is a profitable company that does not rely upon VC funding, supporting over 100 million user accounts with a growing team of over 500 people from over 50 different countries, from the world’s top companies and universities. We value intelligence, learning potential, and ambition in our hiring process.
Purpose of the role
We are looking for a Marketing Data Analyst to drive data‑informed decision‑making across Proton’s marketing organisation, with a strong focus on campaign measurement, topline reporting, and performance insights. You will work closely with Product Marketing Managers (PMM), Growth, and Performance Marketing teams to design and implement frameworks that quantify the impact of awareness initiatives, marketing investments, and upper‑funnel activities. This is a hands‑on analytical role that blends technical expertise, marketing domain understanding, and storytelling through data.
What you will do
- Awareness Campaign Measurement
- Collaborate with PMM to develop the measurement plan for upcoming awareness campaigns.
- Design and build geo tests and dashboards to evaluate campaign success across key markets.
- Propose and implement a basic pragmatic model that connects brand‑awareness shifts to sign‑ups, working jointly with PMM and Growth leads.
- Develop measurement setups for the PMM roadmap of tests, identifying where analytical support is required.
- Topline Marketing Reporting
- Provide topline marketing KPIs (e.g., sign‑ups, subscriptions, CAC, conversion) for monthly and quarterly marketing reporting.
- Build topline dashboards that visualize marketing performance at both channel and campaign levels.
- Revamp and simplify the Attribution Dashboard to improve usability and insight delivery (note: not to build a new attribution model).
- Define, based on data and marketing expertise, the overarching marketing channels that require a performance measurement framework (e.g., Blog).
- Identify marketing measurement requirements that should be integrated into Proton Analytics as part of the company‑wide analytics platform evolution.
- Performance Marketing Monitoring
- Get familiar with Pigment dashboards for Affiliate Marketing and partner with the Affiliate Lead to derive insights and propose optimization opportunities.
- Review Pigment dashboards for Performance Marketing and collaborate with the Perf Marketing Lead to identify actionable optimisations.
- Review Pigment dashboards for Influencer Marketing and collaborate with the Influencer Marketing Lead to identify actionable optimisations.
- Map and document the performance marketing data ecosystem, including Tune, Metabase, AdTech integrations, cost ingestion, and Pigment, clarifying data flows and ownership.
- Explore the potential to take over Pigment dashboard ownership from Finance to streamline performance reporting within Marketing.
Job requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in a quantitative field (Marketing Analytics, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, or related).
- 4+ years of experience, particularly in marketing analytics, is a must; experience with data visualization or data‑driven decision‑making roles.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable marketing insights.
- Proficiency in SQL for data querying and transformation.
- Experience building dashboards and reports in tools such as Metabase, Pigment, or equivalent BI platforms.
- Excellent communication and storytelling skills able to present insights to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
- Experience working in high‑growth, general technology companies.
- Familiarity with subscription‑based or freemium business models.
- Practical knowledge of Python or other scripting languages for data manipulation and analysis.
- Understanding of privacy‑first marketing measurement principles.
