Context And Mission

BSC's Finance and Accounting team is responsible for the management of financial resources of all activities of BSC-CNS (expenses, budgets, audits, banking relations, suppliers, payment of receipts), as well as the financial reporting for audits and accountability. Following current financial legislation and accounting regulations, they also administer the funds and assets of the center.

In this context, we are seeking a dedicated Account Receiver Officer to join the team, within the Management department. As part of our team, you will provide exceptional service and support in the accounting and financial management of the center, and interact with relevant stakeholders and BSC staff.

Key Duties

- Asset Management & Intangible Property (Fixed Assets)

- Manage the full lifecycle of Tangible Fixed Assets, including additions, disposals, physical verification, depreciation, impairments, and the control of equipment located outside the center.
- Serve as the main point of contact for internal inquiries regarding inventory and asset control.
- Oversee Intangible Fixed Assets, specifically tracking, registering, and monitoring patents and intellectual property.
- Coordinate and manage the annual tracking and accounting registration of Royalties.

- Income Management, Subsidies & Customers

- Register and monitor competitive income, research grants, and public/private subsidies in coordination with the Project Finance team.
- Manage the full customer cycle: issuance of invoices, cash collection management, accounting registration, and weekly control/follow-up of outstanding balances.




- Coordinate closely with the PMO (Project Management Office) to ensure alignment on billings and project closures.

- Process Automation & Systems Interlocution

- Drive improvement proposals, operational development, and functional monitoring of core tools in coordination with Information System and Services Unit.

- Payroll Certificates & Employee Expenditures

- Manage the validation and approval process for payroll certificates and related requests through the Employee App, including Handle full-cycle vendor reconciliation and invoice registration for external certificate providers.

- Recurring Operations & Domiciliations

- Manage recurrent monthly direct debit processes in coordination with HR Department including account registration
- Perform weekly IBAN validations and process bank account modification requests securely.

Requirements

- Education
- Certificate of Higher Education (CFGS / FP II) in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
- Degree in Economics, Business Administration, or equivalent will be highly valued.

- Essential Knowledge and Professional Experience

- 5–10 years of experience in accounting, asset management, or financial administration roles, preferably within research centers, academia, or public-system environments.

- Additional Knowledge and Professional Experience

- Solid experience managing Fixed Assets cycles (depreciations, impairments, physical inventory) and complex income tracking.
- Advanced user level of SAP (specifically Asset Management, AP, and AR modules).
- Advanced commands of Microsoft Excel (dynamic tables, advanced formulas, data reconciliation).
- Native or professional proficiency in Spanish (written and oral) for processing official documentation and internal communications.
- Medium-to-High level of English (B2), will be highly valuable

- Competences

- Analytical & Structured Mindset: An extremely organized and methodical person capable of designing and documenting financial procedures.

- Interest in financial software, systems integration, and continuous process optimization.
- Communication & Interlocution Skills: Ability to coordinate effectively across multiple departments (HR, PMO, IT) and provide excellent customer service internally and externally.
- Adaptability: Capacity to balance structured annual/monthly closures with high-volume, demand-driven daily requests.

Conditions

- The position will be located at BSC within the Management Department
- We offer a full-time contract (35h/week), a good working environment, a highly stimulating environment with state-of-the-art infrastructure, adaptable working hours, extensive training plan, restaurant tickets, private health insurance, support to the relocation procedures
- Duration: Open-ended contract due to technical and scientific activities linked to the project and budget duration
- Holidays:



22 days of holidays + 6 personal days + 24th and 31st of December per our collective agreement
- Salary: we offer a competitive salary commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the candidate and according to the cost of living in Barcelona
- Starting date: 01/09/2026

Development of the recruitment process

The selection will be carried out through a competitive examination system ("Concurso-Oposición"). The recruitment process consists of two phases:

- Curriculum Analysis: Evaluation of previous experience and/or scientific history, degree, training, and other professional information relevant to the position. - 40 points
- Interview phase: The highest-rated candidates at the curriculum level will be invited to the interview phase, conducted by the corresponding department and Human Resources. In this phase, technical competencies, knowledge, skills, and professional experience related to the position, as well as the required personal competencies, will be evaluated. - 60 points. A minimum of 30 points out of 60 must be obtained to be eligible for the position.

The recruitment panel will be composed of at least three people, ensuring at least 25% representation of women.

In accordance with OTM-R principles, a gender-balanced recruitment panel is formed for each vacancy at the beginning of the process. After reviewing the content of the applications, the panel will begin the interviews, with at least one technical and one administrative interview. At a minimum, a personality questionnaire as well as a technical exercise will be conducted during the process.

The panel will make a final decision, and all individuals who participated in the interview phase will receive feedback with details on the acceptance or rejection of their profile.
