Experteer Overview
In this role you will manage Rover’s datastore platforms (PostgreSQL/MySQL on AWS RDS), ensuring performance and reliability while building self-service automation. You’ll upgrade, monitor, and optimize databases, collaborate with product teams on migrations, and lead initiatives to scale data infrastructure. The role blends hands-on database work with cross-team collaboration to support Rover’s mission of safe, scalable pet care experiences. This is a hybrid Barcelona-based position with regular office collaboration.

• Manage core database operations for PostgreSQL/MySQL on AWS RDS, including access control and scaling
• Plan and execute major/minor database upgrades and backup strategies
• Develop self-service tooling to automate datastore changes and migrations
• Collaborate with product teams to improve datastore scalability and reliability
• Review migrations and optimize query performance across services




• Design Terraform-based infrastructure for RDS management and deployment
• Develop Python automation to assist Django migrations and model tuning
• Participate in on-call rotations and provide 24/7 production support
• Monitor system health with Datadog/Cloudwatch and implement alerting
• Troubleshoot complex production issues and perform root cause analysis

Responsabilidades
• 3+ years in a Fullstack or Backend Engineer role (preferably Django/Python)
• Strong knowledge of databases, schema design, and DB fundamentals (MySQL/PostgreSQL/AWS RDS)
• Experience with AWS production environments
• Proficiency with infrastructure as code (Terraform or CDK)
• Familiarity with Datadog/Cloudwatch or ELK stack
