Experteer Overview
As Principal Engineer for HV Primary Substations, you lead technically challenging substation designs for transmission and distribution projects up to 400kV. You will engage with clients and coordinate across disciplines to deliver robust electrical systems and protection schemes that meet grid operator requirements. This role blends technical leadership with hands-on design work, contributing to large-scale infrastructure and passing on expertise to multidisciplinary teams. You’ll operate within a global consultancy known for delivering complex, high-impact projects. You will influence project outcomes by shaping substation layouts, protection, and integration with HVDC/HVAC systems.

Compensaciones / Ventajas
• Lead design and technical support for HV primary substations and transmission projects (up to 400kV)
• Prepare single-line diagrams, GA layouts, equipment sizing and layouts
• Perform short-circuit, fault current analysis, busbar sizing, and protection design
• Design earthing, grounding, and lightning protection systems for substations
• Integrate HVDC and HVAC systems with overall substation design
• Develop transformer layouts, oil containment, busduct routing, and secondary interfaces
• Optimize substation layouts considering space, accessibility, and construction constraints




• Develop control and protection system concepts ensuring coordination with secondary systems
• Coordinate with civil teams for foundations, structures, and cable routes
• Prepare BOMs, equipment specifications, interconnection diagrams, cable schedules, and related documentation
• Design auxiliary systems (cooling, power supplies, batteries) and underground HV cable routing
• Coordinate with external vendors/contractors to ensure conformance with design specs

Responsabilidades
• Master of Engineering degree
• Chartered Engineer (CEng) or Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent
• 10+ years of relevant experience
• Experience leading large design engineering teams in grid substation design
• Mandatory experience in HV Plant Design for large EHV grid substations
• Experience with Grid Utilities projects (e.g., National Grid, Transgrid, Transpower, Powergrid, REE) is desirable
• Exposure to IEC, IEEE, ANSI, Australian Standards
