For EOC Group, a privately held European specialty chemicals manufacturer headquartered in Oudenaarde, Belgium, we are now on the look-out for a European Sales Manager.
The Sales Manager Emulsions & Latex is the commercial leader of EOC's emulsions and latex business across Europe. Reporting directly to the CEO, you carry full accountability for revenue, margin, and profitable growth across all emulsions and latex product lines and market segments. You set the commercial direction for the division, build lasting customer partnerships, and lead a high-performing EU sales team with clarity of purpose and commercial urgency.
This role sits at the intersection of commercial ambition, technical credibility, and operational reality. You translate market intelligence into product and portfolio strategy together with R&D;, and you work closely with Operations to ensure reliable supply, competitive cost positioning, and the ability to deliver on customer commitments. You are simultaneously strategic in your thinking and hands-on in execution, capable of shaping a growth roadmap while also closing a key account or resolving a service escalation personally.
Key Responsibilities
Commercial Leadership & P&L; Ownership
- Own and deliver the EU revenue and gross margin targets for the Emulsions & Latex division, with P&L; accountability.
- Define and execute the annual commercial plan, including pricing strategy, volume targets, and market segment priorities, aligned with EOC's group strategy.
- Build and maintain a structured pipeline of new business opportunities across all relevant market segments and geographies.
- Drive disciplined account management with major customers: contract negotiations, long-term agreements, and value-based pricing where applicable.
- Monitor market trends, competitive dynamics, and customer needs; translate intelligence into actionable commercial decisions.
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, coach, and develop a geographically dispersed EU commercial team of account managers, business development managers, and sales support professionals.
- Set clear performance expectations, establish individual and team KPIs, and hold the team accountable to results through structured review cycles.
- Recruit and onboard new commercial talent as the division grows; actively develop the next generation of commercial professionals within EOC.
- Build a team culture that is customer-centric, commercially rigorous, and collaborative, connecting people across borders and product lines.
- Identify skill gaps and put development plans in place; ensure the team evolves in capability in step with EOC's strategic ambitions.
Strategy & Market Development
- Co-develop the multi-year commercial strategy for the Emulsions & Latex division, including market segment prioritisation, geographic expansion, and new application development.
- Identify and develop new growth platforms, emerging applications, underpenetrated geographies, and adjacent product categories within aqueous dispersions and latex.
- Lead the commercial approach to sustainability-driven opportunities: bio-based formulations, low-VOC systems, circular economy applications, and customer de-carbonisation requirements.
- Represent EOC at key industry events, customer conferences, and trade associations; build EOC's reputation as the partner of choice in aqueous specialty chemistry.
- Contribute actively to group-level strategic discussions as a member of the commercial leadership community.
Collaboration with R&D;
- Act as the commercial interface to R&D;: translate market needs, application requirements, and customer feedback into clear, prioritised development briefs.
- Participate in stage-gate reviews for new product development; ensure the commercial case is continuously tested and validated against real customer demand.
- Identify white-space opportunities that require new technology; co-develop the product roadmap together with R&D; leadership and the technical commercial team.
- Facilitate customer-facing technical interactions: bring R&D; and application specialists into key account discussions where technical depth drives differentiation.
- Ensure the commercial team is well-equipped to sell the technical value proposition of EOC's emulsions and latex product portfolio.
Collaboration with Operations
- Work closely with Operations to align commercial commitments with production capacity, lead times, and supply chain capabilities.
- Participate in Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP;) processes; provide accurate demand forecasts and translate commercial strategy into operational planning input.
- Engage with site Operations teams and supply chain on major account opportunities, new product launches, and capacity investment decisions.
- Escalate and resolve customer service issues in partnership with Operations; maintain transparency and accountability toward the customer.
- Contribute to make-versus-buy and tolling assessments where commercial volume or product complexity justifies a different supply model.
Reporting & Governance
- Report regularly to the CEO on commercial performance, pipeline health, competitive developments, and strategic initiatives.
- Maintain accurate and timely data; ensure the commercial team operates with full pipeline visibility and disciplined opportunity management.
- Prepare and present commercial performance reviews at relevant governance forums; propose corrective actions where performance deviates from targets.
- Ensure full compliance with EOC's commercial policies, pricing governance, and contract management standards.
Background & Experience
- Minimum 10 years of commercial experience in the specialty chemicals industry, with a meaningful portion in emulsions, dispersions, latex, or adjacent water-based chemistry.
- Proven track record as a senior commercial leader, P&L; ownership, team leadership, and delivery of growth in a multi-country or EU-wide context.
- Experience working with technically demanding customers across industries such as construction, packaging, coatings, textiles, or printing is a strong asset.
- Familiarity with the full commercial cycle: from market analysis and product positioning through to contract negotiation and long-term account management.
- Background that spans both technical-commercial and pure sales disciplines is highly valued; the ability to bridge chemistry and business is a genuine differentiator.
