PRODUCTION SUPERVISOR - ANTWERP REGION (BELGIUM) - PERMANENT POSITION

We are looking for an experienced Production Supervisor to lead our manufacturing operations within a dynamic batch-process chemical production environment. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for overseeing a production team of approximately 70–75 employees, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality manufacturing while meeting production targets and customer requirements.

Unlike continuous production environments, our operation manufactures a wide range of products using batch processes, with numerous recipes, colours, formulations, and product specifications. This creates a fast-paced environment that requires excellent planning, strong process discipline, and the ability to manage frequent product changeovers while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and operational efficiency.

The successful candidate will have a solid technical background in chemistry or chemical engineering, combined with proven leadership experience in a chemical manufacturing environment.

You will work closely with Production, Quality, Planning, Maintenance, Supply Chain, and R&D; teams to ensure production schedules are achieved, continuous improvement initiatives are implemented, and employees are developed to perform at their best.

Key Responsibilities:

- Lead, motivate, coach, and develop a production workforce of approximately 70–75 employees.
- Ensure production is delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with quality, cost, and delivery objectives.




- Supervise daily manufacturing activities across multiple batch production lines.
- Coordinate production activities involving a wide variety of recipes, colours, formulations, and customer-specific products.
- Ensure strict adherence to manufacturing procedures, batch instructions, and operating standards.
- Monitor production performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
- Promote and maintain a strong culture of health, safety, environmental compliance, and housekeeping.
- Work collaboratively with Quality, Planning, Maintenance, R&D;, and Supply Chain to optimise production performance.
- Investigate production issues, process deviations, and non-conformances, implementing effective corrective actions.
- Manage staffing levels, performance reviews, employee development, and training programmes.
- Drive operational excellence through Lean manufacturing principles, 5S, and other continuous improvement methodologies where appropriate.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant quality systems, regulatory requirements, and company procedures.

Requirements:

- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Process Technology, or a related scientific discipline.




- Proven supervisory or management experience within a chemical manufacturing environment.
- Experience leading large production teams of approximately 70–75 employees.
- Experience working with multiple product formulations, recipes, or customised production runs.
- Excellent leadership, communication, coaching, and people management skills.
- Strong organisational, planning, and problem-solving abilities.
- Fluent in Dutch (spoken and written) & good working knowledge of English.
- Experience within coatings, paints, pigments, polymers, specialty chemicals, adhesives, or similar batch manufacturing industries.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
- Experience working with ERP and Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES).
