We are looking for a Head of Engineering (or Chief Technology Officer) to lead the development of a platform to help investors and technology companies to achieve their climate and social goals.

This is a great opportunity to apply your engineering expertise and leadership in an up-and-coming female-led startup in climate tech. You will spearhead the product's technical development, informing best practices, building a team, and communicating the technology strategy with different stakeholders. As a Head of Engineering, you will be a strategic partner in defining and building the first product from concept to implementation. Barcelona is the preferred location. The founder is from Barcelona, and the headquarters of the company are in New York City.

About Kara

Kara is building the ESG and impact data infrastructure for the innovation economy and its capital stack. Like Carta, for ESG and impact.

Kara provides shared data infrastructure across companies and capital providers. Kara aims to become the system of record for ESG and impact data for private markets.

For our go-to-market product, we have focused on the investor platform: it allows investors to gather data about the ESG and impact performance of their portfolio companies. The platform automates data collection via APIs, easily monitors results through a dashboard, and makes the results seamless to share with limited partners (LPs) and other stakeholders. The platform provides access to standardized and regulatory frameworks (SFDR, UN PRI, UN SDGs, Net Zero, SASB, etc).

There is regulation in Europe called SFDR,



and the US' SEC is looking to announce new rules for ESG disclosures for private investors in October, which will be an excellent opportunity to grow through compliance.

Responsibilities

- Develop the first product of the company, from concept to implementation, ensuring alignment with business goals
- Define, hire and manage the founding engineering team
- Translate customer insights into product specifications and tech specs
- Build quality assurance and data protection processes
- Monitor KPIs and technology budgets
- Ensuring technologies are used efficiently, profitably, and securely
- Use stakeholders’ feedback to inform necessary improvements and adjustments to technology
- Communicate technology strategy to partners and investors

- Proven experience as a Head of Engineering, or leadership role in a high performing software company
- Leadership, organizational, recruiting and team-building abilities
- Sensibility towards product, customer insights, and MVP definition
- Knowledge of technological trends to build strategy, in particular around data infrastructure
- Understanding of budgets and business-planning
- Excellent communication skills
- BSc/BA in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field
- Based primarily out of Barcelona or surroundings. The day-to-day work is remote.

This can either be a full-time position (with corresponding benefits) or a contractor. Equity compensation would also be part of the package.
