As part of our continued expansion in Europe, we are developing a new manufacturing operation in Navarra. We are looking for an EHS Engineer to support the implementation and daily operation of the site’s Environment, Health and Safety management system.

This role will focus on operational safety, risk assessment, environmental compliance, occupational health, equipment safety and continuous improvement across the manufacturing site.

Key Responsibilities

EHS Compliance and Management Systems

- Support compliance with Spanish and European occupational health, industrial safety and environmental regulations.
- Implement site procedures in accordance with the Spanish Occupational Risk Prevention framework.
- Support the implementation and maintenance of ISO 45001 and ISO 14001.
- Maintain EHS records, compliance documentation and regulatory monitoring registers.
- Participate in internal audits, certification audits, customer assessments and corrective action follow-up.
- Prepare EHS reports, performance data and supporting documentation.

Site Safety and Risk Control

- Conduct workplace inspections, hazard identification and occupational risk assessments.
- Perform or support JSA, HAZOP and other relevant risk assessments for production, equipment and maintenance activities.
- Monitor high-risk work, including hot work, work at height, confined spaces, lifting operations and temporary electrical work.
- Support the permit‑to‑work process and verify that the required safety controls are in place.
- Monitor PPE use, machinery safeguards, hazardous areas and chemical handling practices.




- Follow up on identified hazards and ensure corrective actions are completed.

Contractor Safety

- Review contractor and subcontractor safety documentation and qualifications.
- Deliver or coordinate site safety inductions.
- Monitor contractor activities and compliance with site EHS requirements.
- Identify unsafe practices and support corrective actions.

Environmental and Occupational Health Management

- Monitor environmental aspects related to air emissions, wastewater, waste, noise, soil and groundwater.
- Coordinate environmental sampling and monitoring activities with external providers.
- Maintain hazardous waste records and support compliant storage, transportation and disposal.
- Support occupational health programmes covering chemical exposure, noise, dust, ergonomics and psychosocial risks.
- Coordinate employee health surveillance and maintain the relevant documentation.
- Support energy‑saving, waste‑reduction and environmental improvement projects.

Equipment, Chemical and Explosion Safety

- Participate in safety reviews for new equipment, production processes and facility modifications.
- Identify mechanical, electrical, functional and chemical safety risks.
- Support machinery safety inspections and the validation of protective measures.
- Review the hazards associated with new chemicals and their proposed storage and use.
- Support ATEX assessments and the identification of potentially explosive environments.
- Assist in developing technical standards and inspection checklists for machinery, chemical and explosion safety.

Training, Emergency and Incident Management

- Deliver EHS induction,



operational safety and emergency‑response training.
- Maintain accurate training records and follow up on mandatory training requirements.
- Support the preparation and testing of emergency response procedures.
- Participate in emergency drills and inspect emergency equipment.
- Investigate accidents, near misses and unsafe conditions.
- Conduct root‑cause analysis and track corrective and preventive actions.

Requirements

- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or a related field.
- At least 3 years of EHS experience within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Knowledge of Spanish occupational risk prevention and industrial safety requirements.
- Practical experience conducting workplace inspections, risk assessments and incident investigations.
- Knowledge of ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 management systems.
- Experience with machinery safety, hazardous chemicals, ATEX or environmental compliance is an advantage.
- Experience in battery manufacturing, automotive, chemical, semiconductor or another high‑risk industrial sector is desirable.
- Professional fluency in Spanish and English, both written and spoken.
- Chinese language skills are an advantage.
- Strong analytical, organizational and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to work regularly in production, construction and technical areas.
- A recognized Spanish PRL qualification, ISO auditor certification or other relevant EHS qualification is highly desirable.
