Descripción del trabajo Do you have a genuine passion for empowering young people with learning disabilities? Are you a qualified teacher and have a creative flair for engaging learners? Then this is the perfect opportunity for you! Join our vibrant Supported Internship programme in the Black Country! We are recruiting for 1 x full time (37.5 hours/week) Tutor to be part of a supportive team dedicated to helping young people with learning disabilities, learning difficulties, and/or autism access the world of work. Mencap's Internships combines education and work experience to prepare our learners for employment. As a Tutor you will focus on the delivery of the educational element of Supported Internships programmes.
What will you be doing?
- Inspire Young Minds: Create dynamic and engaging lessons that seamlessly integrate English and math into real‑world employability skills.
- Develop Essential Life Skills: Equip learners with practical life skills to navigate their communities with confidence and independence.
- Think Outside the Box: Design innovative and fun lessons that spark curiosity and foster a love of llaborate for Success: Work closely with team members to provide holistic support and help learners secure paid employment.
- Deliver Accredited Qualifications: Teach accredited functional skills in English and Maths to prepare learners for future success.
- Enjoy Dedicated Planning Time: We'll provide you with a full day each week to focus on planning and administrative tasks so you can deliver the best possible support to your learners.
- Flexible Leave: We don't follow the academic year calendar, so you can take annual leave throughout the year, providing flexibility for your work‑life balance.
Qualifications
- A recognised teaching qualification (e.G., PGCE, Cert Ed, DTLLS) is preferred. However,
candidates with a Level 3 qualification and willingness to undertake a Level 5 qualification post-probation will be considered.
- GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent) at grade 4/C or above.
Experience
- Experience in supporting individuals with learning disabilities, learning difficulties, and/or autism.
- Experience in delivering functional skills in English and Maths up to Level 2.
- Proven ability to deliver against targets and KPIs.
- Experience of working with a diverse range of learners.
- Strong classroom management and behaviour management skills.
- Experience in delivering functional skills in English and math.li>
- Experience working in a supported internship setting.
- Knowledge of employment‑related skills and training.

- Passionate about supporting young people with SEN.
- Creative and innovative approach to teaching and learning.
- Adaptable and adaptable to changing circumstances.

Salary
- £28,706 - £31,003 per annum (dependent on qualifications)
- £25,577 per annum, pro‑rata + excellent benefits
- £24,785 per annum, pro‑rata + excellent benefits
