Are you looking for a new challenge where advanced optimization meets real-world impact?

We are looking for a Senior Optimization Scientist to join a cutting‑edge technology project within the aviation and travel sector, working on complex, high‑impact optimization problems.

You will collaborate with cross‑functional teams to translate business needs into mathematical models and robust optimization algorithms, contributing to innovative and production‑ready solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

Optimization & Algorithms

- Design, develop, and implement classical and metaheuristic optimization algorithms (e.g. Genetic Algorithms, PSO, Simulated Annealing).
- Create custom optimization solutions to solve complex mathematical and engineering problems.
- Translate complex business rules into mathematical constraints.
- Collaborate closely with technical and business stakeholders to design solutions for real operational challenges.

Data Analysis & Preparation

- Collect, clean, and preprocess data from multiple sources.
- Identify patterns and insights to improve optimization model performance.
- Evaluate and fine‑tune optimization algorithms to meet performance and scalability requirements.
- Perform sensitivity analysis to assess the impact of constraints and parameters.
- Work with product and delivery teams to productionize optimization models.
- Communicate results, insights, and implications clearly to senior stakeholders.

Requirements:

- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Operations Research,

Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 3–4+ years of experience in optimization or a related role.
- Strong experience with metaheuristic optimization techniques (GA, PSO, SA, etc.).
- Proven ability to translate complex mathematical problems into actionable optimization solutions.
- Proficiency in Python and data science libraries (Pandas, NumPy, SciPy, Scikit‑learn).
- Hands‑on experience with optimization libraries such as PuLP, Pyomo, and frameworks like Mealpy, DEAP, or Optuna.
- Solid understanding of business rule modeling and constraint programming.
- Fluent English (international environment).

Nice to Have:

- Experience with optimization solvers such as Gurobi, CPLEX, or Hexaly.
- Experience with data visualization tools and libraries.
- Knowledge of ETL processes and data cleansing.
- Familiarity with linear optimization techniques.
- Experience deploying models on cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred).
- Exposure to advanced mathematical modeling tools (Pyomo, OR‑Tools).

Sponsorship

under the Highly Qualified Professional scheme (PAC) may be provided.

About You:

- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Excellent problem‑solving and critical‑thinking abilities.
- Curious mindset with a passion for learning new technologies.
- Comfortable working in fast‑paced, ambiguous environments.
- Availability to work in a hybrid model (3 days on‑site per week in Barcelona).
